Is there a difference between years for the dashpad? Will a 75 fit in a 70 car without modification? Thanks, mark

All the dashpad are the same. The texture of the early pad is said to be different. All the tops I have seen over the years appear to be the same. I have noticed suttle differences in the texture of the ashtray pull.

Isn't the relief around the glovebox a little different early to late years?

If you are talking about the dash with the ash tray part they are different. The glove box relief on the 70-72(maybe to 71) is larger and your glove box will not open all the way with a 73 and later dash.
I've got a nicely recoverd '73 dash and I did not use it in my '70 car because of the glove box reilief.

I'm talking about the large vinyl covered foam pad that covers the top of the dash, not the actual metal dash.

Yeah, so are we. If you look at the area where the glovebox is there is a relief in the pad to allow the glovebox door to swing up. Early to late are different size reliefs.

First, there are two variations of the dashpad. Early '70 - '71 and late '72 - '76. The change was when the side vents were introduced in '72 making the glove box and door smaller in width.
To answer your question, the late dashpad will fit on early dashes, but the glove box door will not open all the way causing scuffing to the relief on the underside of the dashpad. Just be careful opening the g-b door. Mine has been in place for over 10 years until I can find a quality substitute. It doesn't show unless one knows what they are looking for.

Not true, Andy. It has been fitted on my car without without mods. Just careful on opening door. No problem.

I'd call that a problem (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Some people don't like to be careful ...

Same here. My glovebox door does not fully open.

I just know there is a nice early dash cover out there with my name on it!
