Get all of the intake seats done. The other three are just waiting to go. Trust me on this one; I had three drop out because I only had them replace the ones that actually came out the first two times.

I agree. Start getting the parts from Jake Raby's site to make a 2056 (or 1911 if you want to use the 1.8 crank & rods) and be done with it. A 1911 with 9.0:1 compression will give you smiles all day long!

Retire that engine, Joe. Its done. Its just not worth putting any more money into. Lets get that 2056 done.

Are you bringing the car around to everyone? Or do we have to come to you? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

Since my humor didn't help, I still say a rebuilt AFM is in your future.

sooo, i have been driving everyday since hershey, and trying to figure out why i cant just run smooth. it has a jerk in every gear at every speed. car idles smooth and the acceleration is the only time i dont notice the jerkyness.

i was looking at the distributor today and i noticed if i grab the rotor and twist it, it dosnt spring back all the way. it has a pretty good variance if i try it again and again. i figure the rotor should be pretty precise. pheraps this could be a major contributor??

i am not sure how the rotor is supposed to respond

I have listened to your problem symptoms, and I have a sure fire solution. I promise you that this will cure your jerking issue.

Never stop accelerating. Ever. Just think of how fast you will get to where you are going.

Build the 2056. you have so much already. the 1.8 works enough to keep you on the road. Don't muss with it any more. Start tearing down the 2L, and get it to a machine shop to have the registers checked and make sure the crank bore is still good. Buy the rebuild parts. Get the heads rebuilt. When you have the 2056 built you are going to wonder WTH you were ever doing with the 1.8. You already know what goes into building an engine, the 2056 is going to be easier.

I just recieved a distributor fedex from clay (thanks clay) and dropped a pertronix into it, car started right up. waited 5 min then set timing...

My car runs smooth in every gear at every speed, just like it came off the showroom floor. I just got back inside from driving (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

it was the distributor the whole freakin time. This thread is closed.

Thanks everyone, I love this World (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smoke.gif)

Now (do I sound like a broken record?) lets get to work on the new engine before this one gets wonky again.

It arrived faster than I expected...

I am glad your car is fixed. Enjoy.

Now show up at MUSR 11 so I can see the car! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)
