I'll contact James/Morph.
Rob, I'd rather build something quick and dirty that I don't have to measure, cut, assemble custom length pushrods, or check torque specs, etc. If I'm gonna take time to build a motor up there, I'd rather just slap something together as more of an overview and have absolutely zero worries about it blowing up (since it'll never run). |

I was going to suggest we stick to a demo engine rather that something someone will try to use. Too many variables that are not controlable, wind picking up dirt/grit, rain/snow, "that guy" loosing it in your crankcase, etc....
I think something that can be slapped together and pulled apart or an extra left partailly assmbled would get a lot of attention. All the tech stuff probably needs to be "dry" so we don't get the Hotel after us about "hazardouse waste" in their parking lot. I have penty of parts I could bring for tech stuff. Jim |

Agreed. But I did get the extensive prep this time so there isn't supposed to be any measuring at all except torque... |

Bruce Stone has agreed to supply a couple rebuilt peddle sets. He will ship to my house.
We need to decide what to do with the swag as well... If we are careful, we don't need an auction. How about a drawing? Anyone have a set of rebuilt core calipers they can donate? I think I can get Eric to rebuild them as a PMB Performance donation but he is hesitant as someone at the Ramble down South didn't quite publicize and possibly didn't even give away a set he donated to them... |

I think I have some rear calipers left over from after I bought mine from Eric.
I'll look tonight |

I have a couple of 4 piston Brembos off a 1991 F40 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Na they aren't a matched pair. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
I have at least 6 (probaly 8 or 10) 914 calipers in my shed, don't know that there is a rebuildable pair in the pile. I'll look and see what they amount to. Where you think raffle or just a free drawing? We should be very public about everything we get from vendors and whom it goes to. Jim |

Take all of the names of all of the registered attendees and draw for the donated swag. I think we need to be very transparent or we will lose sponsors... |

That works for me.
You should post a Thanks Sponsors thread in the Garage as well and add to it as people step up. That way vendors can see their publicity ASAP. I can also add sponsors to the banner ad. Oh, and I think we'll be fine with a raffle this year. |

Randy, How is the Targa Tahoe coming? Yopu has weighed in and says "if she is going to ride along" it should be no longer than 4 hours and have a stop for lunch and bathrooms in the middle... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

I called the hotel over the weekend and of course got some weekend manager who has no authority...I will call again today at lunch and hopefully get someone who do something for us.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Yep yep, no problem! I don't think it needs to be any longer than four hours and if it is I'll make sure there's a clear break-off point for those that want to go back earlier than others. I'll posted my route ideas before, but they may have been in old crusty posts. I'll make up some new routes this afternoon. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Proposed schedule:
Thursday 6:14PM Check-in is open and we begin gathering on the roof of the ramp. Opening BBQ starts serving at 7:14PM. BBQ is provided but not included. 8:14PM Keg tap and official kick off of the WCR 2010 Teeners in Thin Air Friday 9:14AM Tech Sessions and car clean up. Breakfast on your own. Lunch BBQ provided but not included. 1:14PM to 4:14PM Peoples Choice Show and Shine. Dinner BBQ provided but not included. Keg opens at 8:14PM. Saturday 9:14AM Targa Tahoe gathers on the ramp. Breakfast on your own. Lunch BBQ provided but not included. After Targa Tahoe stragglers return - pictures. 6:14PM BBQ on the roof provided by WCR 2010 Teeners in Thin Air Including Drawings for Sponsor Swag - Peoples Choice Car Show Awards. Keg opens at 8:14PM Sunday is check out and return to civilization. Alternative activities on your own include the following: Fishing charters for groups of 4-9. Excursion and Interpretive History Boat Trips on the Lake (Covered Cabin with Windows if you don't want to be on deck). Golf on a world class PGA Course within walking distance of the hotel. Gambling. Many hotels including the host hotel have world class casinos for you to try your chances and win or lose some cash. Restaurants. The full range from 5Star to the lowest of bacteria holes. Independent drives around Lake Tahoe. Takes all day and requires a stop for food but the view of the lake is breathtaking. Photo opportunities. You can pretty much just keep tapping the shutter on your camera because the Lake and surrounding area are beautiful no matter which way you turn. Zip Line Rides. One of the local ski resorts has a ride up on the chair lift and zip line down. We think this costs about $60 but it would be a heck of a thrill ride. Proposal - Add to it, subtract from it, comment on it. We need to publish something and open registration soon. |

Maybe I am not remembering correctly but I don't think Andy (the BBQ guy) committed to being there in time Thursday to be cooking. I believe he said he would come up Thursday evening from Sac. He is a part owner/operator in a Motorcycle shop in Sac and will probably be working Thursday.
I'll call and talk with him and verify what his plans are. I know I was planning on cooking for meals other than the Saturday Night provided meal. Jim |

It isn't really that important but it does mean we have to edit Thursday to remove opening BBQ. |

I spoke with Jim last night and we can have a Thursday night BBQ without Andy in his opinion. I agree.
I think we need to get our schedule finalized and announce both registration and the schedule soon. Mark and I talked T-shirts as well on the phone today, our conclusion was that we should save on the cost by only having the logo on the front and no sponsors on the back. We can recognize our sponsors with banner ads in a thread where we thank them, show their donation, show their donation being awarded to the drawing winner and finally thank all of our generous sponsors. This gives them exposure to over 10K members and shows their product. It should satisfy them. |

In past years, the vendors on the shirt donated significant cash to the kitty, not 'door prizes'.
I think the schedule looks good, but needs a little tweaking before we post it. Mostly I'm wondering about all the BBQ. Not only is it a bit overwhelming for the participants (unless we have a lot of variety), but it may be hard to prepare for an unknown number of 'eaters'. Let's take a minute and think specifically about the logistics of every day BBQ. What do you guys think? |

Jim and I had a conversation about the BBQ situation yesterday. Andy is a 914 owner and wants to be a participant and not tied to his grill for the whole event. I was thinking it would be a good thing to have the BBQ as an option so people were not forced to eat in restaurants every day. Maybe we can make a grill available but not manned. Like turn it on at 12 noon and shut it off at 1 pm? Same in the evening. Or maybe we should just pull it out of the schedule? Andy is still on board for the Saturday evening BBQ...

I don't think we need to baby them that much. People are good at getting food. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I'm not saying I'm against bringing another BBQ if someone's got the space. I'm sure some people would use it.
