geeze, do you two ever sleep? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) I am amazed you can carry on an intelligent conversation at such an hour (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Tis the result of living an on-call photojournalist life. Time of day is never a factor. I'm always this screwy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |

nice shiny windshield trim installed today. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
twin pipe version 2.0 is just about ready for final welding, bead blast, paint and polishing of the SS tips installed longer studs and billet rear wheel spacers toady along with alloy lug nuts. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) Rubber should be here tomorrow or Monday (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) was going to install my new rear shocks and springs today and found that the top of my existing shocks has a coarse thread and the new shocks have a fine thread.... Have to find new shock top attachment hardware or I will have to retap the one part that holds the hat onto the shock, and then attach the whole thing with a new nut on top with the proper threads (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Bummer, thought the rear would be complete today... Oh well there is always next week... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Attached image(s) |

I'll tell you, much of how a car turns out is in the details. I cannot claim anything interior work on mine, but someone sure spent time and bucks getting it 100%.
New shift knob (stock) 944 seat belts All new seals-targa, doors etc Everything just looks either new or very little use. Makes a big difference. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Attached image(s) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) Is that original/cleaned, OEM replacement, or aftermarket carpet set? BTW & FYI all - I found this group which rebuilds & puts new webbing/belts into your 914 seatbelts, it says 74-79, but I'll bet they can also rebuild 70-73 914 ones too with your core & hardware, or else it's the VW type on the overall list (other makes too) - http://www.peparts.com/Detail.bok?no=78 http://www.peparts.com/Categories.bok?cate...BELTS%3APorsche |

Carpet is original, I need to get some matts on it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
That color is hard to find. I actually wouldn't mind have cut-pile carpet, might be something I do as an upgrade someday? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Don't replace that cherry OE carpet - just get the plush Lloyd Mats with the Porsche &/or 914 embroidered logos (from PP/Automotion, etc. - anyplace than sells Lloyd Mats) - they look sweet & feel cushy! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Here's a pic I found of a similar one FYI (not mine) - . NO Shit hard to find! Mine has the all original #503 Dark Tan (brown & tan speckled - a bit darker than yours), but I need a drivers side floor piece at least - or as much as I can find in NOS/Excl used for my resto - got an NOS pass-side floor piece from George for "a left nut"! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) . BTW - looking goooood Dan! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) |

What is the radio ? Nice design, Looks retro'ish ... FYI - Dan, Johannes & All - if you don't have your original radio still, then PP/Automotion & Woody's Custom Shop (Costa Mesa CA) sells modern retro look radios for Porsches, & the latter also sells a cheater box to hook up to your old school AM or AM?FM radio with a 3.5mm adapter plug on a lead to attach your portable MP3, CD player, etc. PP/A - http://www.automotion.com/product.asp?pf_i...mp;dept_id=4049 Woody's - http://www.bench-racing.com/html/about_us.html http://stores.ebay.com/Woodys-Custom-Shop http://stores.ebay.com/Woodys-Custom-Shop_...634Q2ec0Q2em322 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-AM-FM-i...sQ5fAccessories MP3 adapter for AM/FM - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AM-Radio-iP...sQ5fAccessories For my resto I'm going to use the above adapter on the original AM/FM/8-Track from my 73 2L, which is a VW/Motorola VW4412 in this pic (8-track goes into hinged dial face) - . Hope this helps either way Dan & you others go radio-wise! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) |

Root's radio looks like a CDR 220 from an early Boxster or 996?

Looking good Dan! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
With what all you've tackled already much more complicated on this & prior 914s - I'm surprised you're not doing the sale/rollbar vinyl yourself, as that's a pretty easy & straightforward item for almost anyone to take on. Pelican tech atrticles has one on it, as does someone on here (SoCalAndy IIRC). Could save some coin for some other trick items for it! Happy 4th! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif) |

Root's radio looks like a CDR 220 from an early Boxster or 996? Correct! Factory Porsche. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) BTW - It's much easier to give up nuts after you've already had kids for 914 parts. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |
