ah, got you....I figured some of that stuff might be his, but never checked to make sure.
Haven't seen Rich in many years...we used to run our 914-6s in the same class with GGR TT....he always whipped me pretty bad (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I wasn't willing to run my car sideways from turn 7-10 at Laguna...Rich was... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Yep, he was one fast son-of-a-gun. Lots of trophies in his case. I always enjoy talking with him. He gave me a very good deal on a brand new "C" gear set for the orange car and always has sound advise.

I have spoken to him a few times in the last couple of years, but haven't seen in probably 10 years. |

He agreed to letting me write an article on him and his car but I have yet to get around to it. I should do it. He said it would be the first one he participated in.

OK, g-night. I get to go see Shrek (the musical) tomorrow with Maria's workmates. Company X-Mas thing... wooo hoooo. Never know, it may be good. I was surprised when I wet to see Wicked last year. The story they put together was full of surprises. Nothing like I had imagined.

nope not today...I will do the insides of the wheels once the rainy season is over in the spring.
just wanted to get the calipers done and get the struts cleaned and a quick coat of rattle can on them. next up will be some work on the interior...need to do some work on the seats and dash...have to decide on recovering seats of sourcing some Corbeau Classics, recovering or putting on a dash cap. Oh and I will install my new US version tail light lenses when they finally get here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) stuck in group buy hell right now...no fault of the person running the group buy...just needs information from some folks so he can get things off to the supplier. |

may use a set of these if I can't find a decent set of Corbeaus at the right price
they have a set that has black on the edges like these and then a nice dark grey in the colored areas Bottom seat cover is a complete separate piece, so it works just like the stock seat covers. Not one piece like some of the neoprene covers. Attached image(s) |

914 looks great Dan! I've still been driving mine daily even though this is the time of year I'd rather park it. There's all sorts of sand on the roads right now. I need to finish up my T3 Squareback (very close) and keep the 914 indoors for the next 3-4 months.

I'll take some more pics next week.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I ran 87 octane in my 2056 for 3 years with no ping, knock and no other issues...only time I ran 91 or 92 was when it was going to be on track and the ambient temps were going to be very hot. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Based on the discussion on Jaime's "Gas?" what gas to run in his 1.7 topic, & jogging my halfzymers memory by Gint & the others posting there, I agree that 87/Regular is fine in most all cases. I'd forgotten about the changes in the octane rating system, & the difference of US being lower # than RON for the same gas. Car looks great Dan! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) Hey Root - Plz post pics in the Garage as SOT when that Squareback is done! I likey Squarebacks - as do many others on here! Along with VW Buses, they were one of the "modern era" Surfer "Woodies" around SoCal when I lived in Huntington Beach, but now it's hard to see any avg. ones - let alone nice ones, except "queens" at the VW shows! Hey Dan - if your dash isn't cracked, then you're better off using one of those fabric or rug covers to protect it from the sun & heat cycling expansion/contraction, which causes the cracks. It will crack eventually.because according to my departed Dad who was a petro/chemical/plastics-chemist, the foam underneath continues to slowly expand over time, while the black vinyl on top contracts & gets more brittle & heat/cold cycles with expand/contract until it cracks. Mine went into my garage perfect in 5/85 for 25+ years, but then cracked in the last 5-6! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) IMHO, you're better off buying a core or sending yours up to Craig at CAMP914 for a quality resto/recovering which will last for a number of years, as well as better matching the nice resto you've done! JUst my$0.02!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Also, I've seen somebody only line & in the Panorama, Hemmings S&E, etc. advertising the 914-6GT style repro seats, as opposed to those ones you posted or the Corbeau's (unless I'm not realizing that the latter were the former). |

the only reason I would be considering putting on a dash cap is because my current dash has several cracks in it.
This is no CW car, and is by no means a correct rebuild of a stock '75 As such I do to it as I want, as anyone should do with their car. If I can't find seats that work with the stock back pad, I will remove it and just carpet the rear bulkhead and use whatever seats fit my mood, and my size. This car was built for two purposes. To be my daily driver and to be a competent AX car. So far it has done well at both. Next season will be the real test... |
