Dan, I got your package today! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
Well, rather it was in my driveway when I got home from the 914World BBQ last night. Talk about great timing! Anyway, my allergies have exploded today so I am hunkering down inside and trying to wait them out. Not allowed to take any allergy drugs until my appointment with the allregist Sept1. So I have not peeked inside. Monday, or tonight if I can breathe. Zach |

I am also interested in quieting my car a little more. Does anyone have a guestimate how much of the noise you hear while driving is coming from the webers? John |

Depending on how your car is set up, a lot of it is.
On mine, I have no rain tray, and my engine grill is the double grill GT style. Looks cool, allows in more cool air, but does NOTHING for noise abatement. The carb howl seems to cut right through my rear glass into the cabin. With a rain tray, and the engine side sound proofing (which I also don't have) the engine noise might be less. I don't know. I have a regular engine grill. I like the GT style but am worried about noise and rain.
I added a layer of dynamat to the sheet metal part of my engine grill. It made a noticeable lowering of the sound. I don't have a rain tray in yet but am going to try one. I am trying to figure out how to dynamat the bottom of the rain tray as well and see what happens. I plan to add an external cooler with a fan like you did to help with engine cooling. Be nice if there was a reasonably priced air box kit that did not look out of place in our engine bays. You could always switch to regular air cleaners for autox and DEs. John |

I'm actually hoping you can think of something creative to do with all of it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) |

There was a lot in that box!
the 356 air cleaners were a lot bigger then I thought they would be. I think that is my best bet if I can get them to work. Zach |

I think they are actually 912 early for just a couple of years.
Rare actually. The pass side will just bolt right up, no issues. I had it on for fun for about a week. The drivers side is the only PITA. Since that bank of cyl's is that much closer to the firewall, the assembly won't quite fit. Lots of options though. Shorten the can(s) and just find a filter element that fits. Detach can and use hose to go to can. Hopefully you'll find something that works. Slap the pass side and just step back and look at it. Kinda cool, looks all nice and factory. |

John I know in my car (totally gutted -6) virtually all of the interior noise is from the fan and carbs, and not the exhaust. That is unless I'm running open megaphones which are a whole other ballgame and in the >110dB range. |
