Put in the rear sway bar and exhaust heat shield. Also cleaned up the steering rack and mounted it to the front cross-member and then bolted that into the car for now. Also swaped out the super long wheel studs in my rear hubs and put in standard 45mm ones.

I put the cross-member in and took it out at least 3 times as I forgot the dust shield and steering shaft bearing and grommet, so I scratched up the cross-member quite a bit on the floor jack.. Going to have to touch that one up..

put the control arm bushings in. Used a special super expensive patented tool. a 2x4 with a hole drilled into it to pass the control arm through the bushing mount at one end, and another 2x4 with no hole in it at the other end. Clamped it together with a bar clamp. Worked like a charm.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

mounted the spoiler on the back today and installed the rear trunk lid struts from Camp914..

I need to put a little spacer ( rubber i think ) between the spoiler and the trunk lid as the spoiler hit the car a little hard when i closed the trunk... luckily it rubbed out..

changed out the old bolts I had for the front suspension with some nice yellow zinc plated ones from the local bolt & nut shop and torqued it down. Also installed the front sway bar and mounts

Got quite a bit of work done yesterday....
Went to Mark Henry's the other day and amongst all the engine parts I got he also had an old 911 steering column that i thought I'd be able to scavange the bearings out of to fix my 914 column.. The front bearing in the 911 column wasnt interchangeable, but the rear one was.. which is good because my front bearing was good ( but not properly installed by some PO) but this is all that was left of the rear bearing.

The bearings needed to be cleaned up quite a bit though. The one I pulled from the 911 column felt a bit rough spinning but after half a can of brake cleaner, air and a dental pick it was spinning nice and smooth. So i greased them up and put them in.

I had a good ignition switch on my old key set. and a bad switch on my new ( better ) key set. so that was a simple switch.

And just for the hellofit I put the steering column in and pedals and mounted a seat for a bit.. just so I could sit in the car with parts in it.. :-) I still have a thunk in the firewall u-joint that I have to sort out but not bad for a days work I'd say...
