Don't know yet Evil.. It hasn't really moved under its own power yet.. I know I have to tighten up the clutch cable when I'm under the car adjusting the valves as the clutch wont dis-engage yet...

Awesome progress!
Your car looks great Mr. Hyde (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) I normally just post videos to youtube, then copy/paste the URL link into the post. Looking forward to hearing your 2316 run. |

Sill can't add videos... both youtube and facebook say that my iphone and my camera spit out the wrong file type. I don't know how to convert them to a different file type soooo no videos.. If anyone can help that would be great...
Anywho... Car is running great so far. I think i need to adjust the valves a little bit again as i can still hear them a bit. Had a small drip leak out of the right side valve cover that I've fixed up. Idle is decent, and the motor pulls REAALLLYYY nice. The tangerine racing exhaust sounds GREAT ! Adjusted the transmission linkage a bit to get 4th and 5th gear.. 4th is still a little difficult to get into but 5th gear still alludes me. More adjusting required. :-) Poly graphite bushings in the trailing arms squeek and creak a lot. They are coming out this winter.. Car drives straight and breaks work well.. They aren't as firm as I'd like, but that can be tinkered on as well. :-) Took my wife out for an afternoon drive.. There was quite a few old cars out today. Most likely one of the last nice days before all the old cars go away to hibernate. Parked beside this Itallian junk. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Still think in Imperial measure though I use Metric daily. Have you tried a spray lube on those bushing? Selflube properties notwithstanding.Delrin? Crown Graphite or similar, some available at CTC. Hmmm good idea. I'll have a look for that next time I'm at CT.
I tweaked the shifting linkage enough to get 4th gear but still just wont't go into 5th. more tweaking required. :-) I don't think I'll get the car out again this year, so I'll put it on my winter work list and see how it shifts in the spring.. I started it up again yesterday. She was NOT interested in starting in the cold. I must have pumped the gas pedal a dozen times to get er' to stumble and fire up. Then she was soo cold I couldn't hold an idle for a minute or two. Once it warmed up a bit she went back to purring like a kitten.. |

I have some video of the engine running and going for a drive in er' last weekend I'd love to post. Problem is apparently its either the wrong file type or too large a file to post on here, FB or youtube.. sooo I dunno what to do with that..
Big thanks goes out to everyone who helped me with my noobie questions and parts stashes.. :-) Now that I've gotten this car back on the road, I still have some tweaking to do but I'm already thinking of re-building another car.. eak. |

Up here in the GWNorth the fuel additives are
particularly corrosive to the old systems in the 914's. As a test, and this also applies to those in warmer climes, take a fuel sample and fill 3/4 full a mason jar. Seal it and let sit without disturbance for some time. Watch as it separates. The ethanol component absorbs the saturated amount of H2O and will ruin any system, whether carbs or injection. This is currently happening in all our tanks and systems as we "speak" like the rustworms devouring our precious bodily 14's. |
