I'm confused. Post #27- one picture shows a rusty yellow car with a 6 and another pic shows a silver car that just got flares welded on but still needs bodywork and paint? Are they the same car? It's a long story... there are many hours and lots of welding and decades between the gold pictures and the silver pictures. I wish I had more in between pictures. I didn't take the gold pictures those are from years before I got it. Trust me, i like your car. I'm restoring, flaring, dropping in a 6 on mine now. Just was curious about the pics but I understand these projects can take some time. I have done several 914-6 conversions now and they do take time, too much money, and patient friends and family. The thing about this Zombie car, or I should say what makes it a Zombie, is that 15% is original and 85% is fabrication! Since there was so little hope of salvaging the original car I felt like it gave me a licence to really go all out creating a hot rod! I wanted it to look like something the factory would have built but more of it was built in my garage than was built in Stuttgart, hence SoCal Stuttgart! Some day I'd like to make a car from scratch but until then it's 914-6 tributes and hot rods! I'm glad you like it. It truly is my dream car. l love it more than any other car I've done (over 15 cars in the past 20 years)! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif) |

what size wheels and tires ? ah good question: 16x7 up front 16x9 rear and BFGoodrich G-Force Sport 225 50ZR16 and 245 50ZR16 I've been slowly pushing her harder everyday for the last couple days and I like the grip. I know there are much better tires available but these are really nice so far. I'm finding everything to be very predictable even when pushed to the limits. When it breaks loose it is smooth and manageable. Loving this car. |

I don't know how you did it but that is the best complaint I can imagine getting. When first showed this car I expected it to be picked apart because I know it's not perfect. Some of the work people can do just blows me away! I have spent a lot of time looking over work done by people on 914-6 Pbase and Eric's PMB 914-6 (I'm totally jealous of that car) and of course I grew up reading about George Hussey's retro concept red 914-6 3.0 liter. I just did the best I could. I do plan on driving the hell out of it for years to come!! Oh and racing the tires off of the wheels! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) |

Very nice! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) Do you have any pics of the final install of the oil cooler and lines in the front trunk you would be willing to share? Thanks. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i243.photobucket.com-8067-1296301069.1.jpg) Cool. Thanks for the pic. I see you are using a stock shroud. I'm about to install a Mazda cooler in mine which is a bit larger (24x4) so I am trying to get some ideas to mount it. You car looks great, hope you are enjoying it. I tried to keep it simple and factory looking. The fans help. It will idle all day at 180 degrees once I drive it around it gets up close to 200 and hard driving around 210. I probably could get it running cooler if I cut a bigger hole in front of the cooler but I don't really want to do that if I can help it. We'll see how she runs when it get hot out side. |

Alright Dean... That's about enough of that. I look on Facebook and all I see is "Dean driving his teener". Here, Dean more, driving. Dean going to the track. Dean "I'll meet you with my car". Dean driving everywhere... I say "enough is enough". Put that thing on jack stands where it belongs and stop posting picture of you having fun driving your teener! Eric, I thought you might like to know that the Zombie is immobile at the moment! It's not on jack stands but it might as well be.

I didn't put all of those screws in there and I think that is a bad head scrape waiting to happen. |

I am thinking of going with Euro tail light lenses. Anyone want to chime in and tell me what you think? If I get enough votes in I might let the majority decide...

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) I had to be re-welded. I am not sure what happened but it had a small crack in it. It should be back in and running this week. so what do you think? Euro's or good ol' USA? |
