Def the Dogs Bollocks.... um, no comprede... sorry no spekenzy! Definitely the dogs balls. Crazy British way of saying, "That car is the cat's ass!!" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Holy crap! I thought my car was just publicly slammed but then I read this: Dog's bollocks Meaning Excellent - the absolute apex. In other contexts the word bollocks (meaning testicles) has a negative connotation. For example: - 'that's bollocks' -> 'that's rubbish' - 'give him a bollocking' -> 'chastise him' - 'He dropped a bollock' -> 'he made a mistake' The reasons why the 'dog's bollocks' are considered to be the top of the tree aren't clear. It may be linked to an associated phrase - 'stand out like a dog's balls', i.e. 'outstanding', although I can find no evidence to indicate that phrase as being earlier than the 'dog's bollocks'. Dogs do enjoy licking their genitals of course but again, there's no evidence that links the coining of this phrase to that. It is most likely that this is just a nonsense phrase, coined because it sounds good. In that, it would join a long list of earlier nonsense phrases, e.g. 'the cat's pyjamas', 'the bee's knees' etc. I hope that is what he meant! I am obviously behind in my English slang. |

I didn't deserve to have sure a Porsche high going. I knew it wouldn't last but it's been fun while it did. You can imagine my disappointment when I opened the garage the other day to find a quart of oil on the floor! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |

Anyone want to chime in and tell me what you think? I may have missed that part, but where's your oil-tank?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Sir Andy, how is your 901 holding up? I watched your build thread and it gave me ideas for mine. I didn't know how the Rennshift linkage worked until I saw how you did it. |

The reasons why the 'dog's bollocks' are considered to be the top of the tree aren't clear. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Some things are not meant to be fully understood. I don't really get how "the cat's ass" translates into something being really cool either. But regardless, your car is the dog's bollocks AND the cat's ass. But i do have a spare 915, just in case. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) And I'd say stay with the US specs, they look "meaner" with your car color (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

That might be enough voting to help me decide. I agree. |

FWIW, that shot above from the rear - I'd stick with the North American lenses. The red against the silver looks fantastic.

I know where the pict in 34 was taken... stick with the red lights, they look great against the silver car. Bummer about the oil tank- good thing you made it home after dropping me off and noticing the drips. Would have been a shame to toss that motor.

Dave, I had a Santa Monica chicken burrito in your honor. You'll have to get one next time! I got awesome retractable seat belts from Auto Atlanta today! The oil tank should be in tomorrow... I'll be looking for some nice twisty roads for this weekend over the next two days (sorry Dave, Eric and others with cars snowed in or on jackstands). I'll drive the hell out of the zombie for y'all! |

Okay... Just a couple of pics from today. We took both cars out for a long winding drive through the hills. Lots of fun but the weekend's over and now it's back to the grind.(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i243.photobucket.com-8067-1299463047.1.jpg)

In case anyone was wondering how this car is going I've made a few updates. I've opened up the front to allow more air flow through the oil cooler which has dropped the oil temp significantly. The front right tire has been rubbing the fender so I had my body man bend the lip under which fixed the problem and didn't damage the paint. I also added a stereo that is the best sounding stereo I've ever had in a 914.
