Good Contest so far, keep the Votes coming.
Question is - will Sleepin get some extra Votes on his Birthday? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/birthday2.gif) |

just for reference, here's how Huey started when we got him:
Other than paint and body work, Nadine and I did much/most of the work to build him the first time, then rebuild him the second time. Nadine spent weeks completely disassembling everything down to just a chassis. Her meticulous engineer mind bagged and tagged everything so it was easier to rebuild. (easy is relative). He's come a long way.... Attached image(s) |

I was torn between Vegasracer and Computers4kids. They are both perfect cars. But Mark (Computers) has taken his car eaxactly where I am trying to get mine so he gets my vote.

another shameless plug...
When I bought this car some three years ago in Oregon, I think there was more parts inside the car and piled around it than actually bolted to it. My friend Jamie and Coy helped me load it on a tow dolly to be hauled backt to CA. I know what they were thinking...what-a-piece of... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) but they graciously just smiled and we shoved it on the trailer. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) It too under went a full body strip inside and out and makeover, eventually it was ready for a new life. I laugh everytime I see this picture from Willow Springs. The car had just got put back together after getting painted and the motor had about 200 miles on it (crate new bulit SBC with all the roller goodies etc). And here I was on the tracks of Willow, WCR2009. Funny thing was, it looks like I was leading the pack, but the thruth was...I had never been on an AX track before and was taking it fairly easy in the turns, then opening it up on the straights. What a way to break a motor in... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Look who is directly behind me...yup, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) And I thought it was fast then...nothing like a little dyno tuning to wake-up the beast inside. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0z5TV72aFo |

Not sure how many of you remember the thread on this...
Someone that races in 'No Grip Racing', which I assume is an online racing site, created a replica of Huey to race with. Here's a link to the page: http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=14708 Here are a few of the screen shots he made. VERY cool.! Attached image(s) |

You know, win or lose this has been fun.
It's made us go back and relive some of the history of Huey: from where he started, to the initial build and all the work and late hours we put in, to the events, more hours, the wreck (ok, that's not fun) and the subsuquent rebuild...then all the work to get it to run correctly...to what we have now which is such a fun car to drive. Huey and our adventures have been written up in: Porsche Panorama Excellence Autobahn Ambition online magazine Carolinas Region Tobacco Roads Peachstate Presse We got mention in Grassroots Motorsports and BMW Roundel and this guy recreated him for a video game....how cool is that! This little car has added a lot to our lives, some a bit sad and frustrating, but mostly fun and enjoyment. I cant' even begin to think about how much money we've put into him. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) we take him to every event we can, we now autocross him more (now that we got some A6 tires!!) and we love to share him with everyone that appreciates the hard work and countless hours that goes into this addiction. Huey and Papa Smurf are part of our family. Nadine and I routinely refer to them as our kids: I'll be working on them in the garage and Nadine will come out asking 'so, how are the kids doing?'. If he wins COTM, we would be honored. If not, so be it - maybe we'll be nominated again. But thanks to whoever nominated him, it's forced us to go back and look at how far this little guy has come! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) (btw, this is my post #700!!) |

If you didn't vote for Huey, then set up a new account and vote for him this time! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Huey was dead. Came back from the dead. Died again. Revived again. If you haven't seen the car in person, then add it to one of the things to do before you die. It's fast, great looking, and in it's presence, you feel ALIVE AGAIN> Vote and Vote twice. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/type.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/type.gif) Attached thumbnail(s) |

Yeah, but I took him down at MUSR 11. Snuck up on his ass and passed him with Christine! They never knew what passed them.
