There is no 'best' unless you find a NOS factory set. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Some difference I have noticed: Some kits are more factory like and require more work to install properly (steering column is a hole instead of a notch, the hand brake must be removed, etc.) You get better coverage/fit at the expense of more work. Some kits have a sewn in heel pad, some are pressed in and bonded (the latter lies smoother and doesn't ripple.) I've observed the surging is nicer on some as well, where it doesn't crinkle up as much around tight bends. Then there is the whole choice of what actual carpet you choose - that can also vary wildly. My choice? Morph kit with european loop. Best mix of price, ease of install, and quality. Install time for a first timer is probably a couple of hours max. There are many threads on installation tips. Best of luck! |

I have the Morph kit. While it probably won't satisfy the concourse weenies, I think it is great! Perfect fit, good quality and James is a great guy to do business with. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Damn...I need to get some new pics with the Eric Shea GT door kit, new panels and new seats that I have now. Attached image(s) |

I have a Morph kit also. Havn't installed it yet but it looks good. I need a plush tan set now. I have to start thinking about that soon.

I went with the Morph kit too and for the price its very nice. I installed it myself and it looks excellent. I went with black loop instead of grey cause I like the look and it matches my Lloyds matts nicely too and just really gives the whole interior a new look. Here is a picture. Morph also sewed in a leather shift boot for me as well.

so is the morph kit the better fit and most factory looking? No, I would say the Morph kit is very nice.. but it is not the closest to factory - I would guess the AA kit would be, but I have not handled them all. Another difference I forgot about: If the fender pieces are cut & angled vs. flat. Flat requires a bit more manipulation to get into place properly. Oh, also, if they offer surging around the slot for the heater lever if you're running without center console (I keep meaning to get around adding it to my morph kit!) I guess I'm giving you a list of questions to ask, as each maker changes their kits pretty regularly. Or if you just want the best value:quality:ease of install, go with Morph! |

The base 72 kit was needlefelt perlon (like felt) through dec of 71 the pass floor piece was longer along with the bulkhead and center tunnel piece different than jan 72 up production. (corresponded with the retractable seat belts.
The appearance group 72 models has installed loop carpet the so called "hair" type. 1972 916 had installed hardigan cut wool. All of these kits were dark charcoal not the light charcoal like most aftermarket kits one sees in the cars. (that is for all of the black interiors!!!!!!!) In 74 1/2 the carpet was changed to a nylon tweed mix of black and purple that continued until the end of the line in 12/75. What is available in addition to the cheap domestic loop kits out there is the factory carpet kits (rare and expensive but available in both the felt and the loop, and the tweed) and good replicas of the felt and the loop and the tweed. One needs to look for good binding a good drivers heal pad, good workmanship (as all of the aftermarket kits are not molded, it takes a bit of sewing to form the carpet) and always make sure that the hole is there for the steering column to go through. It will take an amateur about two hours to install a kit and all that is needed is some spray trim adhesive used sparingly on the rocker carpets, the bulkhead carpet and the left drivers wheelwell carpet. The pedal board carpet will hold itself up by being clamped by the pedal board. One must drop the steering column and lower dash pad to install the column through the hole in the pass bulkhead carpet. The 70-71 carpet kits consisted of 9 pieces the 72-76 carpet kits 10 pieces. I am intrested in installing a carpet kit in my 72. Whitch one of PP's is the best.I want to go gray. How many hours app. does it take? |

Morph's kit is very good, and the best value, no doubt. The best kits I've seen come from Autos International.
I've got one of their best tan kits, if you are interested Rick, but I'm sure Morph's is less $. |

They are Morphs fiberglass panels but I had them covered here locally when I decided to go with the GT style pulls. I'll have to check on price. They did them for me because I do a lot of work with the shop. They did my seats as well. |

I recently purchased a carpet set from AA. I was very satisfied with quality of materials and the fit was right on. Not certain if the price was comparable to Morph and the delivery time took longer than I had hoped for.
