Guys,
Concerning the little oil strainer wire mesh "basket" on the motor: How often do you replace them? Or even check them? Replace every oil change? Or do you just clean it out? Just wondering. . . |

When I had one, I cleaned it out every oil change.
Mine's gone now, due to not fitting when the oil pickup extension for the "tuna can" is installed. --DD |

You don't need to replace it. Just clean it.
Factory manual called for cleaning every 3000 miles at first, then in 1972 changed it to every 5000 miles, then in 1973 changed it to every 20,000. Finally, in 1975 they dropped it from the maintenance schedule completely. So I'd say it's up to you. Clean it as frequently as you feel comfortable. |

I was gonna buy one of those but do not want to lose the strainer .......... so I decided to make my own 'tuna can' that will still utilize the factory mesh filter. I have two configurations in the works with differing fabrication difficulties ............ I will post pics of both when I get them done (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif). |
