Congrats. Hopefully that other point doesn't eat at you. 3,4,5,6. When you count it out......

A 3.2 can be made to put out the stock numbers of a 3.6. There is a combination of things that can be done. The intakes can be Extrude-Honed and balanced flow. The AFM can be replaced with a MAF that reports to the ECU as if it was the AFM. A Steve Wong chip can be added. Heck, just removing and replacing the stock exhaust gives you a pretty big boost. I'm not worried about the 'other points' as I can make up the difference if I want to. I suspect I will be pretty happy for a while though...

That, and the car looks soooooooooooooo good! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Had to mess with you bro. Hard to argue with a 3.2. One of the best Porsche engines ever.. I'm stoked for you and can't wait to see what comes of this.

Raw, undelivered, the range was $5-8K with private party at the low end and Porsche recyclers at the high end. Hard to tell what the final cost will be though, as I have to sell off all of the 3.2 stuff I won't use such as heat exchangers, cat, muffler, AC, tin, air box, flywheel, clutch and pressure plate etc, then buy tin, exhaust, K&N, etc... Get the dme checked to make sure the solder joints are all good.
Get the afm unit reworked at the same time.
Just save yourself the headache....stuff is old and flaky.

It came out of a wrecked '87 911. I have heard and seen it run and it purrs like a kitten and growls like a lion. I'm not worried about the AFM because I would replace it with MAF if it went bad. I have personally seen about 40 DME boxes at Parts Heaven. No headaches for me...

At just over 4000 RPM, all hell breaks loose in a 2800# 911 Carerra. I'm more worried about 4000 RPM in a 2000# 914! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif)

What made you decide to go 6 over your built 4?

It had always been the plan. Ever since going for a ride in Paul Sayegh's car I have been sure I would build a street GT with a six. I owned the Bumblebee Racer and that was a six of course, but it was caged and absolutely a pain to drive on the street. I want Yopu to ride in it, hell! Drive it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif)

I understand. One ride in a 3.2-6 did it for me. My 1.7 is a fun little cruiser and fun to drive but a strong 6 is an E ticket ride

When it rains it pours! Just bought a second 3.2 with 55K miles on it and sold the first and the 915 that came with it for a modest profit... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Just sent the cashiers check for the engine. The guy I am buying it from is a member here though he hasn't owned a 914 in a couple years. His 914 now apparently belongs to Rich Wilner and he has been a customer of Chris Foley...

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif) Now, I'm officially excited!!

If I'm not mistaken, that 914 has since been reunited with its original owner. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The 3.2 is a great engine for a 914-6.
You're gonna love it! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

A question for the guys who have done 3.2 conversions...

Patrick Motorsports seems to sell a couple different lightened flywheels for the conversion. I know about the issues with lightened flywheels but I am wondering if these effect the stock DME injection at all? I am purposely going with a stock 3.2 for the driveability these engines exhibit.

I think a steve wong chip could solve the issue with the light flywheel and adjust for a non catalyst exhaust. vroom!

You may be right. And the nice thing about Steve is that if I decide to do the other stuff, extrude hone and flow balance the intake and replace the AFM with a MAF, he will re-flash it...

Of course, if McMark gives me a demeaning look, I'll have to find another solution... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
