I talked with my body work guy again this morning. He's been delayed a bit which is great for me. It will give me more time to get the grunt work done. The car won't go into the shop until at least next week (after Memorial weekend) and maybe a bit later.
BTW - This guy deserves a plug. Steve Lindholm of S.L. Carrozzeria, 3135 E. Birch Ave. Parker CO. 80134 - 303-840-2140 If you are in or near the Denver Metro area and need quality work, I highly recommend him. He hasn't done any work on my car yet, but he came over to my house and looked at my web pics in order to do the estimate for the insurance claim after the moron swiped my right rear quarter. He used to be an insurance claims adjuster so he knows the game. I talk to him almost every week asking questions and picking his brain while stripping my car to prep for the work. He's always been extremely helpful and courteous. He's even willing to let me come and do work on the car in his shop. I hope to learn a lot in doing so. I've seen his work and it's fantastic. Top notch old school metal worker/panel beater. |

You're always welcome to come by. I don't get out much since starting this project. Rich and Joy are due in this Sunday. Maybe Sunday evening or late afternoon we might be able to make a git-together out of it. I'll post something to the local list when I have more info.

I am really enjoying monitoring your progress. Great pictures. Keep us posted. When I have to do this kind of work, I'll know who to ask.

QUOTE I am really enjoying monitoring your progress. Great pictures. Keep us posted. When I have to do this kind of work, I'll know who to ask. That's the beauty of this medium. A simple search for a thread with info and pics in it could answer your questions without you even having to ask. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/MDB2.gif) It will be awhile before I can do this. In the meantime I do this: (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) |

QUOTE(Gint @ May 18 2003, 05:26 PM) QUOTE ps. get a new fuel pump. Did you mean for me to get a fuel pump, or you got a fuel pump? Car running again? Out looking for vandals? Nah. I was just whining about my frikk'n fuel pump. No, the car ain't running yet -- I just took care of the fuel leak. (I'm still completing the house project from the weekend -- seems being without a bathroom for too long gets people goin'!) After that, I go after the rest. kim. |

Good news, bad news today.
Good - I dropped the truck off tonight for the trailer brake controller install tomorrow. Bad - Wife's Mommy wagon sounds like she's managed to go through yet another set of brake pads. Good - Cowl appears to be decent. A tiny bit of surface rust in the windshield corners, but that's easy to take care of. Caught it soon enough. Bad - The drivers door has a hole in it and some rust. Good - I still have a pair of cherry doors from the 72 door mobile Bad - If I use the other doors, I'll have to do a full repaint to change the color. (Sorry about the Andy pic. This was a tough shot given the conditions) Attached image(s) |

Some very creative repairs on this car. This is the front trunk front seal channel.

Making *some* progress
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/members/ginter/MVC-222F.JPG) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/members/ginter/MVC-223F.JPG) The seal channel is really hammered. Somebody really thought bondo and fiberglass weave was THE way to repair rust. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/members/ginter/MVC-220F.JPG) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/members/ginter/MVC-221F.JPG) That IS a hole (IMG:http://www.914world.com/members/ginter/MVC-224F.JPG) This area is goung to have to be cut out. There was some rust bubbling, and it isn't even close to straight. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/members/ginter/MVC-227F.JPG) |

I've decided to push out the schedule. This is taking up too much of my life. Today is my birthday and guess what I'll be doing. It's no fun, and it's become real work at the rate that I'm trying to get it done. I need to talk to my body work guy as he had expectations of a time frame, but I want to wait to get it into the shop until after I get back from vacation mid-July.

Mike,
On the day: Have a great B-day! On the car: It's not evil to push the sched out. Things are different than you expected. It happens. Take in the new info, and build a new schedule. "life is what happens when you are making other plans". btw, you are making really strong progress -- I am certainly envious! kim. |
