i'll be there. question is if i should drive the 914 or ride the motorcycle.

how bad do you think traffic will be? will there be a car corral?

The car corral is being handled by the PCA and the decision on where the Porsches will be parked will be decided this week.

In regards to traffic, all 4 gates will be open. A lot of people don't like South Boundary road (parallels Hwy 68), but it's relatively flat so you avoid the hills off Hwy 68. Since the track sits on a county park it is governed by the county. They do not like Hwy 68 backed up since it's one lane in both directions as the local residents don't like bumper to bumper traffic (who does?). In a lot of cases traffic will be dictated by the CHP/ Sherriff's office forcing the track to move race traffic on S. Boundary road by closing the gate off A and/or B road (main gates). This is the case for most big races. Depending on where you're going or coming from many take Barloy Canyon road off Reservation road which takes you to Hwy 1 or Hwy 68. If that is the way you want to go I can get you exact directions.

Harlen

Harlen,

My understanding from the track now is that there is no more paved parking left.

My plan now is to take public trans from Monterrey Transit out of Salinas or the Community College.

Can you confirm they will be running both days. I do not want to park in the dirt.

Do you know if MST will be running the special event bus?

Thanks

Yes, Porsche corral parking in the lakebed is completely sold out with 800 cars, the most ever. This will be the largest event of one make ever on the west coast. You can check with ticketing to see if any of the other parking is sold out such as Red 9, which is the paved area right above the start/finish line.

In regards to the MST bus, yes they will be running Friday through Sunday, but I believe Friday will be a limited schedule. I will know for sure by next week. Picking it up at Monterey Peninsula College is a good spot (plenty of parking), but so
is Embassy Suites hotel in Seaside. It's free with a ticket and it only takes about 20 minutes. They arrive and drop off every hour. Go to http://www.mst.org/maps-schedules/route-list/ and see lines 36-39.

If you're a Porsche fan, this will be one of the best events ever. I should have more detailed information by next week.

Anyway you can squeeze one more 914 into the Porsche corral? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_bump.gif)

How "last minute" can you go to this and still get in ??

i'd expect you can show up the day of and still buy tix at laguna. place is just too big to sell out (at least in the literal sense!).

You are correct; tickets will be sold at the gate. However, it will cost about $20 more. Suggest buying them at the advanced price. I will be selling tickets to Porsche Rennsport during my Cars & Coffee on October 1st which will be at the advance price. Plus, if you buy it at C&C you will not incur the handling cost which is like $10.

Harlen

I don't know if they will be selling tickets for Rennsport but I been buying tickets for the Historics and the ALMS races from these guys for the last couple years.

BLANCO SHELL
1300 S MAIN ST
SALINAS, CA 93901

SEASIDE SHELL
1600 CANYON DEL REY
SEASIDE, CA 93955

They sell them at advanced prices even on the day of the race. Both of them are on the route to the track and the Seaside station is just off Hwy 1 at the 218 exit just down the street from the Embassy Suites.
Get off the freeway, get gas & tickets and 10 minutes to the track.

I was able to get parking in "Blue 3" yesterday. it is dirt field parking which sucks, but it is porsche parking. I bet that will get close to filling up as well.

I'll probably go just one day of the three. Which would be the best day to go? I'm thinking I'll go on Saturday.

I'll be there. Planning to drive the 930 if its working, rather than the 914. If the 930 is down, then probably the 914 gets to go.

Saturday will probably be the best day if you had to choose. Two main reasons: cars that are going to be displayed at Sunday's Porsche Classic at the Quail will have to run their race on Saturday. Also, there are going to be about 65 Porsche race drivers and I doubt they're going to be there for all 3 days.

I also noticed that the MRLS website only shows the run groups, but not a description of what's in the race groups. I have it somewhere and if I find it I'll post it here. Maybe that will help.

This is true. These two locations usually sell tickets at the advance price until they run out. Thanks for the reminder.

I'll be there Saturday, but am now questioning if I should drive the 914 if parking is going to be a mess. Not interested in trying to drive it on a rough dirt hill for general parking. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I will be there. I am camping near the corkscrew bridge. We should have a 914 BBQ or something.

Please don't mention BBQ and 914 in the same sentence. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
I'll be there in my gmc pickup. I hope it comes back here sometime in the future. I'll show up in my rebuilt again 914.

Might as well throw it out there. Does anyone have a corral pass that they want to sell?

I apologize in advance if I've sent this twice as I'm having issues with my pc.

The MST buses will be running all 3 days from around the region. Please go to: www.mst.org and see Lines # 36, 37, 38, 39. Two parking areas to consider are Monterey Peninsula College and Embassy Suites hotel.

I apologize for the general parking area and SCRAMP is aware of it. Everything costs money and that is something a non-profit does not have. I spoke to the Traffic committee last week and asked them to see if they can come up with something for Porsche owners. They will, but can't promise they will have a solution. I also have a proposal, but will take some heavy negotiations with the county and I don't know if I will have enough time to pull it off. I will keep you posted.

I just wanted to mention that I only jump onto this forum when I have the time and I remember to do so. As we get closer to Porsche Rennsport IV I will have more info that I will post. There's going to be a lot of fun activities, intro of the 991, cars from the Porsche museum, about 65 race drivers, a beer garden, etc.

So if you have a question or concern about Porsche Rennsport and/or the track that you need a quick answer please contact me via email and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.

I just bought Corkscrew View site 612 just up the hill behind you.
I won't get there until Friday Night but at least I'll be there.
