What's up with the big loop in the front trunk oil line? Looks like it is folded or kinked from this angle...

Wow, I guess that wouldn't buff out.

But at least you were using it for what it was intended for.

Yeah I made that line last night to try something new. It's not kinked, just looks like it from the photo.

I used to have a short 8" line or so go from the bottom of the cooler too the thermostat, but it was very tight and always a huge pain to get on. I just made this long line to make it easier, and it gets covered by the shroud anyways.

Well… I’m back on this project and I think I may have the momentum now to get this finished. Its actually amazing how little HOURS are actually required to finish this project, but now how many YEARS its been.

I crashed him just over 10 years ago. Yikes. In the last ten years a lot has happened that delayed things (to say the least).

- had my second child (he turns 10 next week!). daughter is 12 now.

- coached 7 seasons of kids basketball and a little soccer. i really miss this…

- started another company (adtech), operated it for 7 years and sold it. this also involved a 4 year lawsuit (went to trial) with some unethical partners (i won, yay; but honestly the lawyers are really the only ones who one in that drama).

- moved to encinitas and remodeled the entire house and yard.

- bought and sold 2 (3?) other 914s including completing a full restoration on the 1970 irish green six.

- got divorced and starting dating again. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

whew. i cant believe its been 10 years since i crashed. i have owned this 914 for 30 now - since i was 15.

And to restart this project I’m just making myself go to the garage (I actually love spending time there) and do *something*. So I’m just getting anything done because eventually it all has to be done. So I’m working on this that dont really matter (rubber trim) and things that do (eg brakes) as I find parts.

fitting the wiring harness…

And another decision I’ve made is to just get it done and it doesnt need to be perfect. This car is a very odd assortment of generations of Porsche parts and repairs so will never be a show car. So I’m just putting it together as-is and not worrying about things being perfect.

Done is better than perfect for this car now.

Words of wisdom from my good friend: A little work every day!

I try to apply this rule, but it certainly is not easy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

A few questions on your oil lines:

How close are the lines in the sway bar lever area (potential interference)?
Are these -10 or -12 size?
Can you post a picture of the lines going up in the rear fender. I also have a Brad Mayer kit and it seemed tight to get lines past the kit's top fold that reaches the rear suspension pick up point. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) (non flared car though).
Also planning on running oil lines on the passenger side. I still have the front box, not sure yet how to go through it. The Brad Meyer kit sitting on these vertical ribs on the outer long actually ends on the rear part of the box covering part of it preventing the lines to go through it, unless maybe going in the box via an opening on the back and side (back corner) provided the lines will not protrude too much and touch the rocker panel. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Comments welcomed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thank you! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Good to get back to resurrecting the car. Life does get in the way sometimes lol, but sounds like you had the priorities right. And there is life after divorce!
