QUOTE(siverson @ Sep 29 2021, 07:31 AM) *

is there a difference between the chrome and all black interior door handle cup things?

im 99% sure i had these early/chrome door handle cups on this car but…. the interior door handle does not work with these installed. weird. i just wont open all the way. without them it works fine. hmmmm.

Those are early, but I have them in our 73 because we like the look. The only issue we found was that the screw length matters… should be very short as to not catch or it binds like you are reporting. These screws are unexpectedly short.

I had this same issue on my 71 with late handle cups, it’s the screw, I forget exactly what happens, but I think the end of the screw prevents the final action you need to pull the handle. I ground the screw shorter and solved the issue.

From the looks of the fitting, the 2 outputs of the "Y" have adaptors threaded all the way to the body which lets us assume there is an o-ring in there. That being said, at the inlet your fitting doesn't go all the way. Is the Earl's fitting really a female NPT thread at that end? Seems to me it probably is the same setup as the 2 outlets. Also, your male NPT doesn't seem to be threaded very deep in for an NPT, another sign that these might not be matching.

Actually, just found this. O-ring is your answer!

@Montreal914 good idea - read the instructions! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

This is the one I have:

https://www.holley.com/products/plumbing_an...parts/100181ERL

So it is an NPT fitting on the bottom. And I guess they never use orings then... ? I really was just looking for AN -6 all around and this is as close as I could get. Hmmm.

well i had hoped to get him running for the wcr but i didnt make it. pretty close and i actually drove out of the garage for the first time in 10+ years today, but still a lot of sorting out to do. i got the oil to temperature and turned it around.

a short video:

https://youtu.be/Is1f_RtVD94

i was a but nervous about the brakes (and clutch and shifting and alternator and thermostat) but all that stuff seems to be working fine.

ill be taking the 997 to wcr tomorrow so ill see some of you there.

Super cool, glad to see it moving! As unfortunate as it is, it's the right decision to give the car a proper-shakedown. Best of luck Steve, keep at it!

Still lots to sort out but I took him on his first short drive with no problems - 9.14 miles around the neighborhood.

dyno tuning day and an alignment are scheduled for the next week or two.

those are all 964 gauges (same as engine). the tach has the obc (on board computer) which was an option on some 964s and standard on others (the turbo i think).

Awesome, glad you were finally able to get this back on the road. If you don't mind me asking, were are you taking it for the alignment and tuning? Just to keep it in mind for when I get mine to that stage. Thanks
