I've owned my car since 1991 (when I was 15) and don't think I ever had a "build thread" for my car. Since this "Willow Springs rebuild thread" is the closest thing I have to that, I'll just take this thread over.

I've been dealing with some health issues the past couple of years and have been driving but haven't been working on my car much. It's actually been pretty solid and hasn't needed much.

I've always wanted to make "clear tops" for the ITB covers for a while so tinkered in the garage this weekend and this is what I came up with.

It is a little "showy", but I like it and think the yellow zinc plated intake horns look really neat it was always a shame to cover them up with the filter.

What do you think? Too blingy?

-Steve

Steve,
I am planning on making plexiglass tops for my air filters on the 4.0, when I finally get to that part of the build. It is terrible to cover up those beautiful velocity stacks!

I did that on my last car. It was cool but on carbs you would get some discoloration from a little reverberation

Beautiful car!

There is a distance that you are supposed to maintain above the edge of the airhorn.

Yours are too close to the plexi...

One diameter of the opening UP is a good rule to use.

So taller air filters or shorter air horns.

Try it without the covers.

It will sound 100hp better!

Open air horns ARE magical...

It might gain 5-10% power.

Still gorgeous!

Yep, the definitively quintessential classic wide body car!

And the clear top rain hats are a great piece of art. Hope they survive in use. Very cool!

Absolutely love it Steve, eager to hear how they hold-up though they look incredible. Sorry to hear about your issues, don't forget you have a 'friendly neighbor' if you need anything. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)
