Love that color. Sometimes I wished that I had taken more time to find one in that shade of blue.

Today, took car cover off and mocked up my GT roll bar copy
Yesterday we went to EASY, huge crowd and so many people. No pictures but I must have seen $10K+ worth of Magnus Walker wheels there.... Pic of the twins and Dexter. |

Shifting on Rote was hit and miss when looking for 1st or reverse. Discovered one rounded conical screw and deteriorating bushings at the firewall. Ordered the brass replacements vs. OEM plastic. 5 times as much but I'm looking for improved shifting and durability on this antiquated system. I've been spoiled by the Subaru trans and cable shift on another car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

I found a lot of slop there, so I drilled and tapped a threaded hole for a small bolt set screw at 90 degrees to the roll pin. Took all the slop out of that connection. Shift pattern is much more predicatable since. |

So I am working on my DIY Zinc plating and I had to fix my blaster that I have not used for 6 years. In it I found parts for the carburetors for #41. Off the Eric at PMB good find just in time.
The plastic in the front was so crazed that I had to feel my way to blast so I removed the panel and remover the front 1/16 plastic and put it back with a clean protective sheet in the back. Never use Windex on plastic as it can cause crazing on acrylics. Bob B |

First drive of the year, fired right up after sitting for 4 months.
It's a beautiful sunny CA "winter" day, mid '70s, and i took her for a 30 minute drive through the rolling hills on #4. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

On the subject of blasting, I finished up with the remaining backing plates for the '66 912 at shop class tonight.
Before & After shot of the front plates Finished off the last of the (4) rear plates Will wash & prime the parts tomorrow, then paint all of it later in the week. It will be nice having all these parts ready to bolt on when I get the calipers back from PMB. Also blasted a passenger side 912 head pipe/HE. Will get the same treatment after the backing plates are done. As the weather starts to warm up, I'll need to focus a little more on the 'BB' if I want to make the Route 66 Run this year (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |

Working with the blaster and the vacuum was full of crap. What I mess to clean up. Found out that the “do your own Zinc plate” needs to sit in the vinegar and Epson salts for a couple of days to get the Zinc to go into solution well. More Zinc till it looks like gray primer. The gold finish did not come out to good and I ordered more of the SODIUM DICHROMATE DIHYDRATE 1 Pound to get the mix to look like what was on the Internet. After I get it all worked out I will post my workings.
Waiting to pick up my 76 today from its PPI. It looks great. driving it back home Bob B (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

Installed the brass bushings last nite. Very tight fit. Pricey little bastards! Hopefully I will be able to test these out this weekend. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
