I found what was left of the green/black oil temp wire in the harness. New wire ordered to repair/replace this.

With the help of my good lady (22 years of tolerance today) i made a template for one piece of the tinware on the fan end. It took 2 hours but it is spot on. Will make the other 2 pieces on wednesday and then fabricate all 3 on friday.

Had the 123 distributor installed and rewired the fog lights to work without having to turn on the headlights.

Did nothing to my 914 today because I don't own one!

But on the bright side, there is no rust on my floor (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Carry on!

F@#K - I installed my new Sekurit windshield and new trim today...well almost. Got the glass in OK and had the trim on except the 3 clips on the driver's A pillar. The glass was sitting higher on that side compared to the rest of the glass (I noticed that side was high when dry fitting the glass without the butyl but figured it would be OK). The trim was riding on the glass and I just couldn't push it down enough to engage the last 3 clips. I used a piece of wood against the trim and was hitting it with the palm of my hand which worked on the other 16 clips. So I gently tapped the wood with a rubber mallet (this is where you call me a DA) and voila 4 cracks appeared from the edge. 3 are about 1" long and the 4th about 3" long. So I marked them with a sharpie and started cleaning up. By the time I finished the long crack grew about an inch.
Rookie mistake for sure.
So I've capitulated and contacted a glass shop who recently installed a China glass in my buddies 914. Need to getter dun for Rt 66 and I have no desire to start over.

Had my (2nd) new windshield installed by a pro and it looks great. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
Installer was a character, when my neighbor stopped by to take a look he asked him if he was the guy who broke the first windshield.

Pulled the glass rocker covers and rear fairing then sanded the rocker covers down. Tomorrow I'll blast the metal fairing and engine grilles. Should have those in paint by this weekend. Also, installed the seat belts from Seat Belt Planet.

Put the first coat of primer on the fender after all the metal work and body work was completed. This one is just to fill the 80 grit scratches in the little bit of plastic that ended up using. Gonna knock it down with 180 grit and prime up the entire fender tomorrow. If you're interested http://www.2002and914.com/?p=543

Installed bell-crank linkage, new throttle cable, stock shifter arm, and new-to-me steering wheel. Just need all the snow to melt, so I can try them out!

Got out this morning and finished up the carb refresh on Elwood. 12.7 to 1 mixture ratio at idle. Found the float level was too high on one bowl, it was percolating into the bore when sitting still, filling it with gas. Once adjusted, I went to start it and it just went click.

I think the starter took a (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) I will pull it off tomorrow to check.

Replaced broken springs on the wife's dishwasher door (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ... and to be honest, it was actually a pain in the ass job (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

In another concerted effort to clean up around here, dug through some 914 parts I don't need that were in the C-van storage container. Will be posting some good stuff in the classified section soon ...
