I bought a leather kit for the steering wheel and got my wife to sew it on. She did a great job. What kit did you use and what was the level of difficulty to sew it on? I bought an Automotion kit for about $70 including shipping. It was incredibly difficult! The leather in the kit needed to be trimmed and the pre-punched holes didn't line up. It took her about 15 hours but she basically did everything twice to make sure she was satisfied with the result. |

Bought a Quad gauge 10 years ago which uses LEDs rather than incandescent bulbs. The gauges work fine but the engine had to be spun up to 4000 RPM before the alternator light went off and the Volts would rise from 12 to 14.5. After much research, a couple of negative comments on this board, and the help of electrical engineering graduates from Cal Poly and Cal Tech, the correct resistance was determined to excite the alternator to create 14.5 V at startup. It took a 10 Ohm 5 Volt resistor and a Porsche specific diode put in parallel with the LED to make the magic happen. It was an interesting exercise determining the correct resistance needed.
If anyone else has one of these quads with this issue, PM me and I will give you the specifics. |

I scanned every receipt for every expensenever spent on the car from the date of acquisition then dropped the cost data into an excel spreadsheet............ taking into account the sale of the original 1.7 to the guy who built the 2.3-4 / then the cash from the sale of the 2.3-4 / to buy the 3.0-6 and trinkets to get that together......... On balance, this car is one of the least expensive six cylinder Porsche automobiles I have had the pleasure of driving over the years. It is arguably worth, in today's market, well over four times what I have in it and it is reliable and fun to drive.
No heater, power windows, power brakes and/or power steering, bla bla......... dont need that in this ride / just an open road. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif) No pictures / new laptop and no imports (photos) just yet.......... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

No, no, no... you don't want to do that... The fella I bought my car from didn't want to add all the receipts up, and after I went through them I could see why; it looked as if he went through the Patrick Motorsports catalog and just checked off all the boxes... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) It can be a real eye opener. -HB |

One of my daughters asked me why I was going through the effort and I told her "I was giving her mother an excuse for justifiable homicide" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

It’s running again! After a long and cold winter the engine came to life with new 2.0 heads from AA and my machine shop dude. I’m a victim of bad engine builder shop practice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif). Now I just need to finish all the little things that take forever. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)
