Sort of 914 related ... got my nephew to help install some plywood onto the ladder-type trailer ramps. I'm positive the winch will appreciate this small upgrade, as well as any car attached to it's hook.

Finally got around to building my mock JWest linkage kit after sourcing a few bug parts.

Also installed my LED 3rd brake light (Escalade stylie). I don't care for the looks, but it protects my ass from these soccer moms. Plus my car is a dirty, ugly, hack so it fits nicely. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I picked up the final pieces from the body shop that were cleaned and straighten: Passenger rocker, rear SIX valence, fuel filler, and fuel expansion chamber.

They look PURTY! Here is to another weekend of garage time! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Bought the last piece of my JWest Engineering shifter parts, the actual RennShifter:

Also bought the 911 shift boot and they are extending their previous offer to 914World.com members of a free shift knob. I got the polished shifter and the small round polished knob. They will be making their way to Scotty B's.

My nephew found a 2.0L '6' under a cover whilst helping us clean up around here. At 33 years old, he's finally taken an interest in automotive mechanics.

We removed the muffler, clutch, flywheel and most of the tin, then hoisted it up onto a stand.

Disc is worn and glazed but the pp and flywheel look OK, just need a bit of TLC. Rear seal isn't leaking, but we'll probably replace it anyway.

The plan is to do some general clean up, check and replace any seals as needed, adjust the valves, go through the carbs and finally, blast and paint all the tin. When done, this will be going into my old '67 911.

Removed the horrible soundproof material from the firewall. Didn't weigh it, but I bet I shaved twenty pounds!

Some cornholio broke into my garage and made off with a bunch of stuff including a bag of specialized P tools 35 years ago. I've replaced many of them over the years, but obviously, not all of them. I don't really remember, but I probably had a special off-set box wrench for that nut.

I have 1/4" & 1/2" breaker bars, no 3/8" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I'll run down to Sears and either get a 1/4", 15mm socket or a 3/8" breaker bar (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)

1) fixed the wiring issue that the mechanics couldn't figure out after rebuilding my 2056.
2) washed the 2 years of dust and grime accumulated while waiting for the rebuild.
3) MAN! 90 miles is A LOT of driving after not running it at all for that long...

1. Finished installing the heating tin and hoses.
2. Painted shift rod black. Almost painted it orange to match Chris's clutch cable bracket.
3. Started sand blasting both front and back valances.
4. Packed and installed CV joints onto to axles. Messy job .............
5. Installed left side axle shaft. What a bitch ..................
6. Installed new GPR shift rod bushing. Cool .........

Last weekend I was home to my parents where my 914 currently lives and my dad told me it wouldn't start. I take a quick look for something easy and see nothing awry, so I jump right in and pull the fuel pump to see if it is getting power.

Sure enough it is, so the fuel pump is shot. It looked new, and only 37 yrs old, DAMN, they don't make em like they used too... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

Picked up a a fuel pump, installed it, realized I need to replace all the lines this summer and got it running in no time! If this one lives another 37 yrs I'll be amazed I can still drive the car.

YAY! At least I got to drive it a few times while I was in town. Always a Joy!

Got her wrapped up with lots of time to play (flushed and bled my dad's 911s brakes as well) before I had to go back to VA.

Here she is tucked away until July. (pops says he'll wash her and get the cover on her)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif). A beautiful 80 degree day. We created a few memories- took my 8 year old daughter for a drive - which gave me a flash back of riding in my dad's karmin g. convertible at her age.
Stopped in to visit billh1963 and see if I could get a couple last bits off his parts carbefore he halled it away to the scrap pile.
Then i fixed my ba k up lights, polished the lenses.

Filled up with gas, - this was my first tank to test milage after putting my rebuild and re-geared dr.evil transmission in, - my combined milage was very close to 30 mpg. I believe that once i fully tune this it will exceed 30mpg combined(to work etc is @40-50mph with a few stops. Next test will be freeway with the new x and h flipped for 4 &5th. I put a clutch in Betty's 914 today. Last Wed I put new carpet and seat belts in it too.

Tomorrow I put new front wheel bearings and brakes all the way around, plus flush the brakes.

This is how to put a clutch into a 914. Use a lift, a pole jack (to hold up the motor) and a transmission jack to remove and reinstall the transmission.

Too funny, I reinstalled the horrible soundproof material next to the firewall to see if I can cut down the droning noise from the 3.0. Am thinking of reinforcing it with some Dynamat just to add a little extra weight. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
