I got it to RUN! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif)

After two years of working on my conversion, last night I threw oil in it, a gallon of gas, and a battery.....

IT FIRED UP ON THE SECOND CRANK!

It was loud (open headers) and nasty and awesome! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif)

The gauges all worked (including the fuel pressure gauge at exactly 3.5 lbs). Carbs didn't spit at me (still need to dial them in however).

Had maybe a small puff of black smoke on it's initial firing. Had one small gas leak on the brass bolt/needle valve cover that took 10 seconds to fix. Other than that, it went surprisingly great. Very very pleased.

I was ready to sell the damn thing because it was just taking to long to get the thing done. My attitude has now been adjusted.

I will post the video tonight.

Now, I just need to get it to shift!

Not mine -my son's, but I'm always working on it. Got the engine, clutch, tranny, & starter assembled today.

Finished the dolly for the blast cabinet and mounted the reclaimer/vacuum unit. Need to pick up a couple of 90 degree brass elbows to install the water separator at the air inlet. Hope to start using it this w/e

Cut this out a few weeks ago. Cleaned it up a bit today, made a template and cut the rear trunk panel to fit today. Next, get some phospho and weldable primer.

Put new Koni adjustable shocks on the back of Betty's 914. The fronts are back ordered. Hopefully they will be here within the next week.

Adjusted the clutch, and worked on tracking down the cutting out issue we have. I think I have it this time.

Pulled it into the garage! The beetle is pretty much done so its time to tear into the 914. Got it jacked up and leveled up so the doors close nice. Time for major surgery on the longs and pans (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

It took a while to convince the owner (aka my wife) that she really needed to replace the shocks and rear springs. 125 coilovers with adjustable ride height perches. The back rides much better. Here's hoping paragon ships the fronts soon.

Got my hand throttle working again (cf. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=188482) since it had stopped working in response to last weekend's shift linkage adventure.

While I was pulling more carpet to get at the forward access panel for the tunnel, I took out the pedal board. I knew it was in bad shape, but...

Fortunately everything I gave a hard shot with a Phillips head screwdriver sounded like solid metal. Got the shop vacc out just to get all the loose crap out of there - the tunnel needs it too, but I'd already closed it up before I thought of that.
