Another extended test drive; given how well the last one went, I brought along my better half ("We're not going to have to push it again, are we?") (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
Over 50 miles, good charging (checked multiple times with DVOM), multiple restarts without problem. If my luck holds up, I may have to make plans for Octeenerfest. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Wow does Felix still have a 914. His last v8 914 engine was up here in Berkeley at my mechanics house, but we took it to the machine shop and it was not worth putting it back together after going through it. Good memories of Felix and Chris both with 914s with V8. Of course mine was the fastest hahahahaha (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) and Chris has moved on to an Ultima. I am glad to see Felix is still around. |

Removed almost all the last vestiges of the aftermarket car alarm that came with the car when I bought it years ago. A fair amount of wiring is now gone, simplifying things by the fuse panel.
Then I installed a new fuse panel (courtesy of mepstein), Somehow, after all that, lights, gizmos, and other electric things still seem to be working (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) And, lastly, drove it. Beautiful weather here this week in the mid-Atlantic. What a joy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

There's a similar one for sale on Ebay now from a Mercedes Benz. Not inexpensive. https://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-BENZ-RESE...hQAAOSw3D5bWG38 Mostly German cars.....Mercedes, BMW, VW. |

Cleaned up -6 hubs. Got new bolts, washers and nuts. Bolted and torqued (17 lbs) new Bosch Quite Cast rotors to the hubs. Rotors say they were made in Italy, thinking Bosch farmed them out to Brembo. Got new Timken bearings seals for the hubs.

Got the sealer on the replaced rear trunk floor today. Not much to look at but a huge step in the restoration repair. Check out the full rust repair story at http://www.2002and914.com/home/the-914/bod...nk-rust-repair/ … go thru the other pages while you're there, if you're up for it.

Getting ready to put the racing fuel tank in the car. Forgot about the fit with the E-Box but every thing is going to work out fine. I need a fitting for the fuel line out of the tank and then I can do the fuel tank installation. Might even be running next week. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
