Slowly putting in parts from Chi-town (THANK YOU!) and AutoAtlanta to fix the long list of small items needing replacement, new interior lamp from VW parts shop, etc.

Still have yet to pull in new fuel lines but sure have that at the top of my list for this week - gotta get this Teener running!

Drove down to West Wales for a classic car show. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Got home to find oil welling in the cylinder head tinware. Oil filler gasket maybe (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Need to have a proper look

Got the horn working today after 2 years without it. Seems that all the wiring was correct and intact. Got the relay to trigger but no beep beep. found out the new Chinese made relays weren't making contact with the socket on the fuse panel. Had to pry the pronged male posts outward with a jewelers screwdriver to open up the post dia. Simple fix took 4 hours. Will file this in my cranium for the future.

I can "horn em" now as my toddler son used to say. Beep Beep Beep

Found top key shop in town could duplicate the original master key and give me the original Key Code from the original door locks.

I had put the new locks in the door handles Chi-town sent me, but they would not work. Only key I had other than Valet key had been rigged, and was not a copy of the original.

Somewhere on here someone mentioned that as far as copying the key, one could use a Valet key to make a main ignition/door key from it and the only difference was a groove in the key - can anyone remind me where that post is? Looked but cannot find it.....

Great pic of your 72 Michael......

Spent this evening putting in the new-to-me door handles that I got from Chi-town and they are working fine. Boy are those internal hex bolts a bear to get threaded and started! Glad that's behind me.......

Next: fuel lines, tank, pump, etc.

Thought about driving one of the 914's, but we had some unusual weather for north Scottsdale this time of year... as Micheal found out. Saw a nice rainbow over 4 Peaks however from the cab of my F-150...

It was the same cost either thickness and I liked the 1/16" wrap more then the 1/8" from the pictures. It is still thick wrapped just not as bulky as the thicker ones.

Started the bumper conversion today. Got the grinder, some cutting wheels and got started. I opted not to drill holes and just ground everything off. Found rust, imagine that. Primer in rear is from trunk pan replacement.

I replaced the solid aluminum/Delrin PatrickMS sourced transmission mounts with Wevo mounts. I chose the softer black pillows. I think the vibration through the chassis from the hard mounts was too much for me. I used the cup washers under the mounts and on top of the transmission ears.

After driving the car, it really seems better. Less "valve" sound through the car.

I think it was the right move.
