Nissan side feeds are kind of known for that.
Have you considered a top feed conversion if there is one? |

Spent the better part of 5 hours cleaning and restoring marker lights and turn signal buckets. New gaskets on all pieces Did Spokes LED upgrade. Probably a little anal on the cleaning but I am good with it. Let the bucket bulb end soak in lemon juice to clean corrosion out of inside of socket. No good way to get it done.

CLR bathroom cleaner actually works pretty well for that.

QUOTE QUOTE Hmmm ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Let's see some pix, Dylan (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/beta-static.photobucket.com-22446-1558470841.1.jpg) BTW, nice repro bumper end caps are available from several 'Bus/Vanagon' vendors, and are fairly inexpensive. I replaced all of mine. |

Swapped out my old, puffy, sticky visors for the 914Rubber versions. Very nice - not concours, but they don't pretend to be. Just a nice, modern alternative.
Fixed the driver door key lock which was non-operative - the lock/unlock cam screw had come loose. Cleaned and lubed the lock cylinder and added the 914Rubber tumbler seal. Also got it titled and registered with a vintage year-of-manufacture plate here in Indiana. |

Shift linkage couplings.
Spent most of the day fighting a stripped out Allen-socket on a cone screw. Not sure who effed it up, but I’m betting on the garage I took the car to last year (I wanted a “professional” to give it a going over after years of DIY stuff on my part). Hated having to drill it out, but it couldn’t have gone much better if I’d used a drill press: I was able to (hand-held) drill straight through the screw and sever the tip of the cone without touching any of the threads… Lucky me—the other screw was in good shape and came out pretty easily. So did the remains of the ball cup bushing: (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif) Could explain why the shifter felt like a broomstick in a bucket. Put it all back together using new coupler bushings, cup bushing, and cone screws with locking nuts: Sorry, can't remember the cone screw vendor, but they're on this site (please chime in--I want to give credit where credit is due (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) ). Oh, and while I was in there, I used some parts of my old parts plus new parts from from 914rubber.com (Thanks Mark! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) ) to make it look a little more original: Unbelievable change in shifter feel. WAY more precise, not "loose" in gear. It's going to take some getting used to...so 70+ mile test drive. NICE! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |

Crud! (pardon my french) Leftover Toyota Pink coolant was not my friend. Need to drop the engine to pull the water pump to see why it's not circulating. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stirthepot.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hitfan[1].gif)

Yeah, and that's that high-priced 'special' Toyota coolant ... what is that up to these days? ... $40./gallon? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
Volkswagen is the same. I believe most import vehicles have their own proprietary fluid 'requirements' these days. |

Washed my 74 project that is parked at my daughter’s place and since I helped them cleaned their driveway this morning for my 2 yr. old grandson’s bday celebration.

If you have a tow hitch you can lead... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) But seriously, windshield wipers. With the remote oil filter and cooling system being all new, you can tell me when it starts leaking (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Plus it sounds pretty good back there. You can if you want to. I've rescued a few 914's. Most recently was Elyut though he won't admit it. Bring any tools you might need. I have no idea what tools your Nissan motor will need. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif) So far I have retouched everything I replaced since the resurrection 4 years ago, so what's left to go wrong (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) wait don't answer that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I'll remember to bring the tow strap this trip (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) My car has become a whole toolbox 914 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) |

Cleaned up the plastic fresh air blower case. Did the whole 800 grit to 2000 wet sand paper thing followed by cutting compound on foam pad to finish.
