QUOTE(mountainroads @ May 27 2019, 09:29 PM) *
Made good on a commitment to the previous owner (yesterday, actually). I purchased this car 8 years ago, drove it for a few years, then dove into a full-on restoration. Promised the PO that I would bring it by to show him when completed.

Resto took over 6 years end to end, due to these things always taking longer and being more expensive than expected, plus a couple of unanticipated hang-ups along the way. Meanwhile gent I purchased the car from developed Parkinson's and I hate to say it, but I was seriously concerned it would become a race between when the car was completed and if he would be able to see the end result. Suffice to say he was very happy to see the car again and I was very happy he got to see it. Sadly, he's no longer in a position to go for a ride, let alone take the wheel.

The smile on his face says it all. It was really nice of you to share the results with him (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

That is so very cool. I am looking forward to taking my car to Santa Cruz to the former owner's home, owner number 2, so he can see what became of his Six. He should be about in his late 70's now.

Got my 50th anniversary floor mats from Suncoast- nice!

Now I have to figure out which car to put them in... actually neither car needs them. Probably put them in the '71 since it is almost 50 years old!

Pulled my 74 2.0 out of the garage for the first time in a few years. Got halfway down the alley before I realized I never bled the brakes after installing the rebuilt rear calipers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

The stuff they ship in the Subaru Febest CV's. It was only 2-3 month's old. I've got 15,000 miles on the same stuff in the Suby conversion. The red car just has too much torque and with the big ass tires I'm learning I shouldn't "dump the clutch". Even @ 50mph. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

Took my /6 rockers to my buddy today for new bushings and to grind the pads. I could do them myself but I'm way too busy.
If I get this job done and the new WEB cams installed I might be able to get my teen back on the road.

Guess you could install the 500hp Renegade CV's?
But then the trans may go Blammo...

Maybe a big rubber torque coupler like Mercedes uses on its driveshafts?
