sanded down and primed up abut 1/3 of the engine bay. Awfully tight spot....
Got a little more welding to do in one area that I discovered today, before I can move on.

I got a s**t ton done today. I'm only back to where the 914 lives every few weeks so I spend that "down time" plotting, obtaining parts and doing research.

Today I got to pull the trigger on things: installed all new LEDs around the exterior positions and dome light (thanks @Spoke for the relay to make it all flash correctly!), new tail light lenses (back to US from the PO's Euros), pulled the dead stereo and installed a new Fusion marine unit to drive the Blau's in the 914Rubber pods, reconnected some wiring under the passenger seat, replaced a headlight retaining ring (thanks @GaroldShaffer ) to repair the one that broke a tab when I installed the 914Rubber (Thanks @Mikey914 !) LED headlights last time (those headlights are great!), installed new 914Rubber black aluminum trim strips to replace the wavy plastic ones....and then I drove it for a couple of hours...it was a really great, fun, satisfying day. I couldn't have done it without a lot of help from here during the research phase!

I bet that’s a ton of fun with a Wrx motor. Did that car come from the Bay Area? I think I may have seen it 10 years ago at parts heaven???

Took my eldest son for a spin on our wonderful twisty country roads to show him how great a 44 year old car handled - he used to have a C5, and has driven my 987.2 S, so he has high standards.....

Of course, getting from 3rd to 4th was impossible, so we had to do with 3rd to 5th with a double-clutch move.....

Diagnosed my high idle issue. Car was idling at 2k. Did a little research on these forums and suspected my AAR might be stuck open. Started the car cold and let it run for 15 min , pulled the line from the AAR to the air breather and it was still sucking air when it should be closed. Plugged the line and the idle dropped to about 1200, pulled and plugged the other AAR line and the car idles at about 900. Now I need to look into unsticking or rebuilding it. May just decide to live without it for a while

Shifting had become impossible so put car on lift & pulled linkage - shocked to find NO bushings in coupler, firewall bushing shot and not even in place, other bushings shot. How did this car ever shift?!?

New bushies on the way, can't wait to get them in. It will shift like new!

Yes, it did. An older gent named Thomas "Carreraguy" on the forum. It is an amazing car and I am so happy with it. The only weakness is the gearing of the 901 and I may Subaru swap to the trans as well eventually. I got behind a GT3 in the canyon and when he couldn't lose me he had that totally stunned look on his face.... he asked what was in it and i said "Stock" and drove off..

Best!

Soak the mechanical portion in PB Blaster or diesel fuel for a couple days ... then apply 12v to it to heat it up ... then drain and blow compressed air through the ports.

Repeat as needed ...

Finished up the gauges and the fog lights. Made up wire harness for front bumper conversion for the fog light plug in.
