Ordered a new shift linkage kit from Tangerine Racing for the 74. Hopefully it will make it to San Diego this week while I have access to a lift. http://www.tangerineracing.com/shiftlinkage.htm
Everything I've read here states that it makes a huge difference. |

Hey, That is a Triad Exhaust! I don't remember sending one to Maine.
Hosed off 1/4 " of dust and pollen from sitting in the garage for a year. Ready for fall driving! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

Drove to the Pick-and-Pull in Carson City, Nevada, and harvested the complete fuel injection system so I can build a fuel injected 2056cc for my 1970 Porsche 1.7 liter. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)

Hey, That is a Triad Exhaust! I don't remember sending one to Maine. Pre-owned, maybe? I've owned two of them (one for a '6' and one for a 2.0L '4'), both were pre-owned (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) Hosed off 1/4 " of dust and pollen from sitting in the garage for a year. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Me too Sir Andy.
Took mine for a 1 hour drive in nice country twisties in my area, and actually think I enjoy driving the 914 more than my Cayman S.....it's just more fun - have yet to find a curve that it flinches at, regardless of speed. Running the $$$ Bosche VR, GEN light stays on most of the time, but system is charging.....after shutting engine down, battery voltage was 12.94. Was showing 13.4 running several weeks ago.....glad it's charging, but why is the light on and why aren't I seeing 14.1? ???????? GN |

My /6 started running like crap leaking oil and sounded like I had a head gasket issue, WTF. Part of the problem was I had a rocker shaft get loose (oil leak), fixed that and started it up, still major noise and running like poop.
Put it on the car lift running and my new PT wrench spotted a nice little flame popping out by the header. A screw that blocked off an air injection port had fallen out, got a M10 valve adjuster screw and stuck it in...problem solved. Yea! My /6 is a driver again! woo hoo! |

Spent the last few days doing some much needed maintenance. I've been away from the car focusing on career stuff for the last few years and neglected the 914. I lit a fire under my butt the other day, and drained the fuel, changed the oil, cleaned the carbs, and finally installed the Tangerine linkage I've had sitting around. After synching the carbs it runs better than I think it ever has on the carbs. The idle is super smooth. I'm sure it could be better, but it's pretty darn good for now. Car fired on the second crank, which was nice. @mr.nobody , get that car into use, sounds like she is ready! Drove it a bit the last few days. Running good but still needs some adjustments. Very happy to be back on the road. Ordered a new shift linkage kit from Tangerine Racing for the 74. Hopefully it will make it to San Diego this week while I have access to a lift. http://www.tangerineracing.com/shiftlinkage.htm Everything I've read here states that it makes a huge difference. So far I'm loving my Tangerine setup. But more adjustment is needed but I think it's already far better than the cross bar setup I had. |

I bought 2 cheapo 195/60s to put on a couple of steelies so my car will be a roller. I need to get it out of the shop to put a better floor down. They replaced some well dryrotted tires that would not hold air.
195/60s on the rear with 165s on the front...DRAG CAR! Seriously I will have to drag the thing out of the shop. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) Hopefully next weekend I will get the car out and the floor started. When the car is outside I may try starting it for the first time since I owned it and probably the first time since 2007 judging from the last inspection sticker. |

Separated the engine, trans, and exhaust for easier storage in my garage. Removed the rear axles. Getting closer to a mostly bare body shell to start rust repairs.

OK, not 914 related but went up to Flagstaff for the West Coast 356 Holiday to see some beautiful cars, many driven from all over the country to AZ. There were even a couple nice REAL 914-6's in the lot...
A "replica" Type 64- who needs a failed RM auction?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) A couple 911 engined cars driven from PA! A couple beautiful 4-cams including one I remember from the Keystone Parade in 2009... |
