Ron,
You know my wife, and you should know better than to post something like this where she can read it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif)

Put new front Koni shocks on Betty's car last night.

Handles much better now that we replaced the old KYB shocks that were completely dead.

I'm going to miss my truck handling and rock n' roll steering.

Replacing that worn out steering coupler is going to make a world of difference. Replaced mine three months ago. Steers like a go kart again!

I can't wait! When I accelerate in a turn the car straightens out by itself so I haven't driven it since. I could only imagine how torn up the rubber looks.

I had a really nice pair of boxster seat belts and receivers... but due to the gravity lock mechanism, they don't work right in the 914.

I also had an ok pair of 944 belts, but no receivers to fit them...

So I took the actual belts off the 968 retractors and rolled them onto the 944 retractors... bingo! They work great and look new.

I put the back of mine up on ramps (not jack stands) so I can pull the transmission and put my new Kennedy pressure plate and clutch in.

Got my nephew Jeremy to help dig a '68 912 engine out of the back of the garage and mounted it to a stand before we took him home for the w/e. I had removed one head for some repairs (cracked exhaust stud holes and a couple of broken fins).

I noticed that the original 'builder' failed to install the lower deflection plates, so I have to round a couple of those up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

In the time being, I'll locate all the rest of the parts to finish it up and when he comes back up, we'll take the other side apart, reassemble everything including freshly-painted tin stuff and a set of rebuilt Solex P40-II carbs.

I pulled the whole powertrain. That was the easy part...hard part was degreasing the transaxle!

a few little things--new ignition switch, new door end caps (from 914rubber.com, VERY nice), and fab'd a removable center-mounted LED stop-light--oh, and took it for a 50 mile drive before the temp got up into the 90s . . . . (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Tried to make sure my 914 was still in the garage as we I have no electricity and don't know when we'll get it back ... maybe in a week they said.

Left the 914 in the garage and drove the Cherokee. A/C comes in handy with temps over 100F (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
