Jim: The motor requires no real mods as it was used in 1976 912e. It stabbed right in to existing flywheel and starter. I found some 912e side tins, but had to modify a 912 firewall tin and 914 front fan belt tins to fit the opening in the 912 engine compartment. It also required fabricating an engine mounting bar that is unlike the 912e as it goes through the tin and connects to the 912 engine mounts in the engine bay. Finally, a throttle hook up rod, electric fuel pump wiring and hoses, and some modified alternator and oil press/temp wire harnesses were needed. So if you see a 912 roller cheap, don't be afraid to give it a 120 hp 2056 transplant! |

Finished up the plumbing on the used 1.7 engine for the wife's 914, I did all the PR seals adjusted the valves, oil filter, cleaned the sump screen, new fuel lines, new rubber intake elbow, etc.
Fingers crossed but this was a running engine. I didn't paint the tin, etc., as this is likely a temporary engine. I'll build a new engine for it when I have the time. Maybe a 2.0... maybe bigger (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |

Got it off jack stands after about two years. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Tend to forget how low the car is. More to do still but the progress is there.

Put 914 on rolling road at Rawspeed in Plymouth. Around 130bhp at 5200rpm and 115ftlb torque from 3500 to 4500rpm. Makes over 100ftlb from 2700 to 5300rpm - a nice flat torque curve!

Yesterday it was a balmy 58 degrees here in Salt Lake so I got to drive it! Today I woke to a foot of snow.
