A little more massaging of intake cover I started this weekend. Not a fan of excess wiring or exposed trunk cut outs that are typical with subaru or V8 engine conversions... Oscar Did you test to see if the top will still fit in there? From the pictures, it doesn't look like it will. Clay ______________________________ Yes Clay..I did, photos are deceiving. About 1/2 clearance. Installing with four 6mm rivnuts. using flathead 6mm thumb screws for easy removal. placing 2mm rubber strip on back of cover to eliminate scratches or rattles. Hope to paint cover soon. Oscar |

Oscar Looks like this is the car you will be driving along with Jerry’s LS 914 for June 6. Can’t wait to see them both again. |

Started and/or finished a few small projects...
Installed BD Stone's Heater J Tube block off plates...unfortunately I ordered the nice black powder coated ones, when I should have ordered the half painted, patina-laiden ones to match my tins. Reinstalled the freshened up charcoal canister... Started making an inexpensive GT-type front oil cooler shroud mold, that will ultimately be fiberglassed if all goes well... Took apart the engine lid, and started sanding the grill parts.... |

No pics, but soda-blasted 44 years of crud off of my engine, tranny and heat exchangers - yes, every tiny hole/opening to engine well-sealed.......beginning to look half-way nice.....heat exchangers looking almost new - if you don't look too close......
Cleaning & painting the tins will be next....... OH! Just got incredible front floor mats from Stoddard with "914 - 50 Years" (in German) and they are stunning! Quality is superb. Really nice upgrade to the interior - highly recommend them.....here.... https://www.stoddard.com/91455100050.html GN |

Just arrived today. I think i am going to try and make the 2wd locking nut and backplate myself. I have so much time on my hands might as well go for it. Any extra tips that are not on the great instructions that are already on the forum would be helpful. If your output flanges align with your wheel centers you can keep that dipstick by straightening it and drilling a ~3/4" hole in the trunk floor, Throw away the brace unless you intend to hook it to a sky hook. The tubing on the slave cylinder can be straightened and re-bent to suit your needs. Use the tube that carried the old clutch cable as conduit for your AN-3 hose. It will keep it from sagging and trapping air bubbles. Did you buy that Forester trans? Just finished converting mine to 2 wheel drive yesterday. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Do you have a set of transfer punches to get that bolt pattern for the new plate? |

I didn't care for the look of the plain LSV8 so I fabricated some brackets and valve covers. Took me 4 hours and lots of curse words. I will powder coat later. Oscar @ValcoOscar - That is SOOOOOOO much better! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) Now if only you knew someone who could stamp some sort of a design into those for you... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) Seriously, PM me if I can help. |

On the last 914 drive my ignition switch finally died and my daughter and her boy friend had to push start my car. So... replaced the ignition switch and while I was in there I replaced the upper steering column bearing, had Hollywood speedometer rebuild my tach with new glass, capacitors, etc. The Tach needle no longer bounces around like a cable operated 914 speedometer. I also finally wired up the turning indicator dash lights that stopped working after switching to spoke LED’s. Everything works now and looks much better.
Sorry about the glare in the photo. |

Put the new 914Rubber seat adjuster handles on the '74. Makes such a difference having them there.
Also cleaned up and resprayed the wiper arms. They were looking pretty rough and 45 minutes later, they look brand new. It's the little things, I guess. |
