^ love that Palma Green..
I broke stuff on my 914 today. I was adjusting my headlight mechanisms and some how fubar'd one of the pivots. This corner of the car shows signs of being wrecked and repaired so I think something is bent or not aligned correctly. |

ran my first AX yesterday, this was a big course had a blast. hopefully the rain holds off today and we get more runs but car ran good.
was lots of fun but waited all day, my group was last, i had sun in my eyes for 1 run bad, i improved by 6 seconds from first run to the last one, car ran good and handles excellent, i slid a bit on a tight turn 2 times but never lost control. super fast cars and experienced drivers ran in the 60’s i ran 83 which is middle of pack with lots of less experienced drivers . i have issue with the shifting of course i now want a short shifter, and smaller steering wheel, i am 6’1” and can’t wear my helmet with top on comfortably so if i do this regularly it will have to be changed, different seat, etc . balance of the car is good, i think. the car can do mid 70 second on this course but not faster without more acceleration so that’s more horsepower, better shifting and a bit more grip in rear. i could also adjust front for a bit more toe out , but i am going to leave it alone for today’s runs. C5 corvettes and couple caymans were at 58-63 they were so fast, and one ‘76 rabbit set up ran 59, so did a couple karts and a 80’s Honda CRX SI ran low 60, don’t know what he had in that thing but it was not the stock motor. other cars that are pretty quick were honda S2000, some of the Mazda Miatas and a couple VW Golf R’s, and a handful of nicely set up BRZ’s(subaru). fun stuff, i’ll be back! I installed newly powder coated muffler hangar and rear sway bar, with new mounting hardware from 914Rubber. Didn't install the drop links yet, as I want to replace the tired Bilsteins first. Also installed a muffler purchased from member @euro911 after painting it in hi- temp header black....I used the Heinz gaskets. When I purchased the car, it had the dual Monza type exhaust on it, which I don't really care for...and this one is much lighter. No sound files yet, but hopefully coming in the next couple weeks. Thanks Mark!

I put the engine back in today. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Had it out for general maintenance: starter serviced, new engine bay seals, oil cooler seals, oil filter console gasket, new fuel liens and vacuum lines, injectors serviced, plugs and wires, distributor cleaned and lubed, etc. etc.

I purchased a 'winter home' in AZ for 'HOWARD' (and some of the other vehicles) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ...
Wifey gets control of the 2,100 sq.ft. 4-Bdrm house ... I get the attached 4-car garage ... and a detached 4-car garage (with a loft over half of it) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) We'll have to flip a coin to see who gets to keep the yard trimmed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) I think I see a John Deere riding mower in our future (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

holy crap!!! that great!! wow lots of garage space there, and sought space for. some big 914 gathering and still social distance (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Thanks, guys ... I'm pretty excited. There were multiple offers on the place so we put an escalation clause in the offer, and fortunately we only went $500. over our original offer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) ... (I really wanted this place) Yeah, Phil, I hope to host a Rt-66 Event some day ... plenty of parking - even for those who choose to trailer out this way (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Mike, luckily, some other good friends also purchased a home in the same community here last month, and they have 3 young kids ... their 2 boys have already applied for the yard mowing job (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ... (they have a riding mower and it's only 3-minutes travel time to get over here) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) Some other close friends purchased a home in the same community almost 5 years ago, and they're a short walk away. The wives have offered to come stay with my wife as needed, as they are both stay-at-home moms (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) We've truly been blessed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) |
