Dropped the engine/transaxle for a transaxle rebuild in the '71. Engine hasn't been out for at least 20 years. I loose count when I've had it for 50 years!

Used Chris' (Tangerine) engine plate and it came down like a dream.

Transaxle off to California Motorsports in Lake Havasu next week...Attached Image

Yesterday we went for a drive.

Drove down to the Granbury/Glen Rose/Fossil Rim area southwest of Fort Worth. It was a great all day drive.

This is a low water crossing on a river. Just behind my car is a flood gauge with a 6 foot mark on it. It is above my car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

The Black 944 belongs to @Scottthephotog , and the 911 belongs to the infamous Al Zim.

We have some really good roads for future drives now. Stay tuned.. planning a drive in January to the same area.

That's a really nice area. Keep us posted on future drives!

This is on the upper Guadalupe River a while back with Rich and others. Were you on that trip?

Some photos from the drive with Clay, Betty, and Al.

Taken with a Leica MP and a pre-war Zeiss Biogon 35mm f/2.8. It has some rather interesting flare characteristics.

Figured out how to wire the backup light switch. Lights work when shorting #2 and 4 on the 12 pin connector. Pulled switch from the transmisssion and confirmed continuity with the plunger on the bench. Now just need to run wires from the relay board.

Took the '73 to an Arizona Air Cooled C&C this AM in old town Scottsdale. Should have taken some pix... 3 914's there but the neatest car was a beautiful 1952 split window beetle with semaphores, etc. Lots of interesting features.

Went with a couple friends, one with a patina rich A sunroof coupe complete with rear luggage rack and wooden skis, and the other with a beautiful restored long hood 911S.

(Cairo- getting a needed rebuild and returning it to its original 7/31 R&P)

Those old lenses aren't multicoated to fight flare like current lenses. I'm an old Leica user and repairman, retired as photographer 19 yrs. ago. You spent the big bucks for that MP body!

Moved the thermostat, will test it tomorrow.

I also hooked up the OBD2 port and tested it with an app on my phone called Torque Pro which is diagnostics tool and scanner along with a bunch of other features.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...en_US&gl=US

Would like to try RealDash one of these days to compare it with Torque Pro

Coolant is reading so low since I had just started up the car. No idea how I am going 3.7mph while on the QuickJack and in neutral (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
