I spent yesterday taking the paint and bondo off the rest of the fenders and found another fine mess the POs left for me. I have a couple of local sources looking for a replacement corner. How does that even happen? Was it a rust repair, accident repair, or both. I assume it was rust repair as the floor is straight. The PO said it must have been done before he bought it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Hopefully that was the last of bondo to remove. The rest of that fender look good except for some rust holes by the sail |

Finally achieved thermal stability. Narrowed it down to the new thermostat was/is sticking.
Then I discovered an artificial 4k rpm limit. Likely a pinched hose under the tank. Still a bunch to do and miles to add before WCR. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/live.staticflickr.com-431-1632170104.1.jpg) |

narthing.
have not been able to get out of here for three days. riots. cops with tear gas and rubber bullets. i live too close to the central business district. construction workers have now gone mental over govt. shutting down major building sites. police helicopter hovering overhead. hard to get work done with all the noise. had cops on every corner last night. fark me. orstrailyuh of all places. vid insanity has taken hold. all i want to do is take my 14 out for a run. but who wants to get caught in a cop v workers brawl in the streets. better calm down soon. never seen anything like this in the so called "lucky country". |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Also a crazy amount of debris in a tank that was washed out not more than 5 years ago. I have spent about the last week color sanding and buffing. Not perfect but I'm happy considering I painted it in the driveway. I plan on adding plenty of rock chips anyway.

Nice job. Enjoy each and every rock chip- these cars are meant to be driven. I put 5K miles on mine in 14 months. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I have been plagued with an on again/off again problem for over 1K miles. My throttle was sticking randomly and driving me nuts. Now it was not bad, it would stick at a high idle, like 1200-1500RPM. If I tapped the gas pedal with my foot it would go to normal idle, 800 RPM. The problem was it was not doing it consistently. I went through all of the throttle linkage and clean and lubed with a dry silicone -twice. Still did it. I could open the engine lid and use the throttle on the engine and it would snap right to idle as it should. WTF?
So I broke down and took it to Pacific Power Motor Sports and Eric spent 6 minutes checking the linkage and ruled that out. Then he went to the Throttle position actuator and checked it and it checked good. He started the car and played with the throttle and it stuck at high idle. Using a stethoscope to listen to the actuator he played with the throttle and saw it was not working as it should. He was then able to clean it up, adjust it and reinstall it and now my engine returns to idle perfectly. The drive home was glorious without having the deal with a high idle. Rick B. needed my lift to do an oil & filter change in his sweet yellow '72 and today was the day. Had a good time doing it, cleaned the bottom of the engine and tranny up some while we were at it.
Then drove my red one to auto supply to get some fuses for both of us, get some lunch, home, then I tailed him as he drove his car home about 9 miles east of me. Nothing like 2 nice 914's driving together....... We had a great day. Oh - got my new fuel lines and tank in and up and running on Thursday after being in Ohio with friends for a week. All is well on that front. But don't ask me what happened at 7pm tonight on the interstate as wife and I were on our way to have a nice dinner out and the ignition failed..........were able to tow my 914 to the next exit and park it in a large shopping center parking lot where it now sits..... Here is a pic of Rick and my 914's in our driveway in the woods..... GN (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/hosting.photobucket.com-21449-1632623711.1.JPG) |

Got the engine back in our 914 #3, will spend today getting things hooked up and maybe an afternoon ride if things go well. Trying a set of twin Webers, 40IDF after removing a single Holley conversion from the PO

@wonkipop Very sorry to see that people are being stupid and rioting in Australia too. I guess I expect it here in the USA with a bunch of fools making choices that go against the security of our Nation and put us all at risk. But I expect more from other parts of the civilized world. Cheers mate. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

@wonkipop Yeah bummer, 8000 miles away and way more in common than you'd think. Your town even looks like SoCal. I did some work for a scifi magazine down under, worked with the art director and editor, they could have been from around here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif)
All cleaned up and ready to mill. These things are trippy, like motorcycle forks. |

Last hillclimb of the year - very last run was a PB, so a great way to end the season!
