I uncovered her and took her for a very nice ride on some curvy roads and then stopped in at my mechanic's to shoot the BS with him. The last time I drove the car I was about 7 weeks post-op on my right shoulder replacement and I had a hard time shifting while driving home. Today, at almost 4 months post-op, she shifted like a breeze. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

Had a friend in town from Illinois so took him for a ride in both 914's. He's just starting to restore a '71 back in Illinois so I got him in the proper mood...

It’s been a while since I posted on this thread, so ….. over the years I pulled my fuel tank, repaired rust and sealed the pin holes and coated the inside (cheaper to buy a new tank).
So with a miss-mosh of fittings and connections, along with factory plastic lines, I pulled the trigger to pull all the plastic lines and replace with steel lines. I replaced the factory tank fittings with -6 AN fittings, installed 3/8 supply and 5/16 return -6 lines with fittings front and rear. I still have to pressurize and check for leaks but should be good by this weekend. Attached thumbnail(s) Attached image(s) |

Huge respect to those who do autobody & paint for a living. I could never make a penny at this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)
Unmasked & color sanded, next is buffing before a final polish. Reassembly by end of March. 5 lug conversion coming in April. I will make these new Minilites and tires available then (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) this spring Oscar [attachmentid=827 273] Attached thumbnail(s) |

Nice, Oscar (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) ... who did the work? I think it's time to get old HOWARD back in the game (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)
I've broken 2 phones over the past couple of years and lost Kent's phone # up here in Torrance. I shot him a PM, but noticed that he hasn't visited the site since December of 2021 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Can someone PM me his # (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) EDIT: Kent @914350 ... HOWARD needs a session on a Celette bench (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) EDIT-2: Got his contact info - thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

I have about $800 in materials. Fortunately, I used my own prep area & spraybooth. I paid a friend of mine to actually shoot the basecoat & clear. He charged me $1500, well worth it. At the end, it's a $7500-$8500 paint job for less than $3500. Not including my hours...I'm free according to my wife (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |
