Ordered up all new locks with a set of NOS door handles from Curt (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
Front trunk cable failed so can't get to the gas tank for fill ups until I pull the front bumper, second time it's happened (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) so need to see what's going on there. So for now its in the garage until I pull the front bumper and door panels so I can redo all the locks all in the same go... |

Well. I opened the rear trunk for the first time in 30 years. All after getting the 914 out of storage after a guy I work with who is into 914’s told me I might be sitting on an LE. (I owe him dinner) and it turns out I am. My mom originally picked up this car in the late 70’s and at one point we blacked it out. 30 years ago it was parked. And the cable release for the rear trunk had failed.
I’ll be bringing it back. But it does appear I have some trunk repairs to do. Attached thumbnail(s) Attached image(s) |

That is great, post the VIN for the historian. The rear trunk had no cable, just a key and a button. Just a few suggestions, don't put a battery in it, and don't try to start it. Check the electrical system first for rodent damage and other possible shorts.

Check the electrical system first for rodent damage and other possible shorts. Thanks. Yeah I was advised of Jeff Bowlsby and we have connected and it checks out. He suggests I get a COA, which I’ll be working on. Years ago we would go back and forth between the FI and dual webers. The FI was finicky back then. I can only imagine what I’ll need to do now to get it right. My father and I have a pretty extensive background with VW’s, had many variations and did some drag racing at Bug-In’s and Hot VW drags. We are preparing to pull the motor assy to give it a good once over. During which we will tiding up the body and refresh the interior. If we have one thing in our favor my dad bought a new dash upper pad for it in 1990 and we still have that new sitting in a box. I want to thank this forum for being a wealth of knowledge. Thanks. It looks great from 15 feet away dripping wet. But it’s going to need some work Attached thumbnail(s) |

Went for a drive in our 73 Delphi 2.0, and after many years of restoration and debugging it has ran without issue twice now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) 1000+ hours of effort and so far 90 minutes of trouble free driving (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)!
