Great turn out today for cars and coffee at our toybarn community. A good friend parked his rare "chairs and flares" Dino next to my '73- figured we'd put the bastard children from Porsche and Ferrari together for a photo op.Attached Image Attached Image

Put the badges on the 75 today. Got the new plastic tray for the package box as well. Took the seat rails and cleaned them up so they can be put in and, if I'm really aggressive, I might still go out here and adjust the back pad.

completed the seal replacement on the motor and transmission, cleaned it up before reinstalling, with some new hardware and new clutch disc, and
added a spacer washer to the transmission mount just above the cupped washer to lower the rear of the transmission and therefore the muffler about 1/4” just enough to stop it from rubbing on the heat shield and the tips on the valance.

Gave it a good wash after it's biggest trip yet. (For a 3-day robotics competition at UC Davis).

One of my teammates snagged a photo of the car driving to the compitition. Packed it to the brim with supplies for the event. They couldn't believe it when I opened both trunks to unload!

Installed a rear view mirror finally--used one made for a side by site UTV and it mounts on the rollbar, kind of cool, I was able to mount it way up high and out of the way without having to bond anything to the windshield at all (the other clip in the pic is the GoPro mount):

One of the things that drove me nuts about my car was that the only locks that matched (and I had a key for) were the ignition and drivers door.
Bought a full set of locks from @TheCabinetmaker (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) and started the swap out
Attached Image
Managed to get the rear trunk, ignition done, then got into the drivers door for some "while I'm in there" work--man, cleaning and relubing up the mechanisms made a *HUGE* difference... Also took the opportunity to install the 914rubber vapor barriers to replace the trashbag version that was on there underneath:
Attached ImageAttached ImageAttached Image

Buttoned that back up and then put the car on the quick-jack in preparation to drop the front bumper to get to my front trunk, to fix the cable and then swap out that lock also...

Then ran out of time... Still need to get in there then finish up the passenger door, I have a new main window glass piece for that door so I figured I'd save it for last... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif)

I have been hauling around the same (never used) spare tire in the trunk since I acquired Elvira.
I decided it was time to replace the spare (1999 date code) with something that I could safely use, if needed.
A brand new Kumho Ecsta V730 is on the way from Tire Rack. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I have a 914 in the shop getting a full resto and I needed a cart to move the bare chassis around the shop. These ended up being more like stilts than a traditional cart. I got them back from the powdercoater last week and I finally had time to get them mounted. They put the car at a great working height in order to tackle some of the preliminary rust repair, flare install, etc.

I've been doing brakes... rebuilt calipers, new pads, replaced rear braided hoses with fresh rubber. Found some pedal travel (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) but still having trouble with the right front locking up early. Ordered rubber 911 front hoses and noticed the m/c was leaking, so bought that too. PITA job and after a couple hundred presses finally got a firm pedal. Better but still locking up the right front early. At this point hoping it's just the very old tires.

Had a fatality
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/live.staticflickr.com-431-1648713644.1.jpg)

Started painting the new wheels. Went back to square, 225/45 on 17x7 from the staggered 16s. Heavier than the 16" 205 fronts, lighter than the 16" 225 rears. 21mm spacer front, 21+5mm spacer rear.
