new fuel pump and new back up switch with new pin!
Also- playing around with a new repro Leitz luggage rack—
pressure holding strong even 5 minutes later!

I stopped by our local powder coater, Advanced Performance Coatings in Auburn on Shale Ridge Lane to drop off a non-car project for coating and the first thing I saw when I parked was a set of chrome bumpers, F&R for a 914! The front had the tit holes welded up and the rear was a later rear (late '71 through '73) with no tit holes. They said they were going to sandblast them for the owner.

Nice to see another 914 in the area. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Took a little trip to Ollie's in Lake Havasu to pick up engine parts for my '71 conversion. I've had the car since new and put on all OEM 914-6 suspension and brakes, etc back in the early '70's but am finally getting around to the engine conversion with my son...

2.4 T engine my son found back in IA a couple years ago- Ollie's did the heads, crank and case. Now we need to figure out what P/C combo and cams we want.Attached Image Attached Image

I have been working on the dash which is held in place by the mirrors. Well while attempting to remove one I broke it. So l ordered another pair. So now that I'll have 3 on hand I can mount one in the center of the dash. After doing some research for the location I had figured out the pedestal needed to be about 3.5 inches tall. So I got all the pieces cut out and all I need now is hardware.

Went for a cruise after having the NOS TPS installed. Car runs perfectly!

This restoration is officially complete.

Really? I’m sure there’s something more you could find. Enjoy

Lol I say this after being 99% complete for 4 years (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif). Took her out this morning and it ran perfectly, even had the BT adapter playing great music thru the stock system.

I know it sounds strange, but everything is done and works as it should…

That said, I could use some plaid door panels (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Installed the headlight/combi/latching relay I repaired the other day.

Then, WHILE I WAS IN THERE, I decided to install the fog light flasher module I bought from JWest Engineering back in 2004 (!).

I had modified the car some years back so I could use the foglights as DRLs--but the white part of Jerome's/Spokework's Front Euro Turn Signal boards are bright enough to take over that role:

That said, I thought it would be good to be able to use the foglights as supplemental DRLs, or to flash them for additional "emphasis."

Installation of the JWest kit was straight forward--once I got the car's wiring back to original/factory configuration. Now the foglights can now be turned on without the headlights; they can also be flashed by pulling and releasing the turn signal lever when the headlight and foglight switches are "off." With those switches "on," everything works per factory intent (foglights on with low-beams, off with high beams).

I love it when a plan comes together.

Replaced the right inboard CV boot on Elwood. That is a nasty job. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Tweaked the carbs, took it for a test drive, and then washed it.

I do not want to give up my early bumper
so even though it was trashed I’ve kept at it.

Almost there. Glad it is thin metal.

Finally completed troubleshooting on the oil temp in my 1975 dash mounted combination gauge - thanks to all the previous threads here on testing the wire continuity and shorting the gauge wire to make sure the gauge was alive. Oh, and progress on polishing the lip of the wheels too…

Drove it about 30 miles…but only after chasing down a no charging condition. Appears that the voltage regulator is slow to wake up.

Thanks. Yes Palma green… we have another that is being converted to a narrow body 6 clone, but will keep the same color.

Cheers
