Started my younger son on stick shift in the 914. He got a huge kick out of it - big smiles all around!

Awesome. Start them young. Logistically, due to having two cars at my camp site this week, i needed my 18 year old son to drive my /6 back from Laguna Seca to my home in San Jose solo. He had an option of coming home the flat way up 101 or driving hwy 17 through the Santa Cruz mountains. He made it home. Wanna guess which way he drove?

I am guessing the same route that any of us would have taken, given the chance! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Fitted the new Group 4 Wheels PAG 'Campy' wheels and Toyo R888R rubber today. 6 x 15 ET36. Personally I love the look (and the fact it's a brand new wheel aimed at narrow body 914s and early 911s. Available in four and five lug, too!)

Those look fantastic! Unfortunately, the 4 lug versions are pretty heavy and don't come in that trick gold color or I'd strongly consider these for my car.

Tied into a dead Kienzle clock that was in an ebay center console I picked up last year. Dated 7/72 and had never been opened as witnessed by the "enclosure" over one of the 3 nuts on the plastic back. Front bezel still factory crimped.

Immediately saw the broken "fuse" joint and temporarily reconnected it. Added 12v power but nothing. Started manually turning a couple of the gears and got a little action. Hmmm...may be onto something here.

A quick tiny squirt of wd40 got things going and it actually scared me for a second when the spring actuated portion clicked.

It was pretty clean but a little gentle swabbing around with a q-tip and a little more wd40 and it's been running like a top. Pretty cool!

Was thinking about uncrimping the bezel and giving it a repaint but the inside of the plastic is pretty clean and the needles are not faded so I'm going to leave it alone and chalk it up to patina.

I currently have a quartz VDO version in my 74. This is a bit early to be technical about it but I think this is going in - very fun to hear the tick tick tick and I love that it's been brought back to life!

Removed the engine and trans yesterday as part of my complete restoration of my 73.
The half shafts were really the only thing that kinda got in my way. But the whole time I spent removing it I kept thinking to myself this is gonna be a bitch getting back in someday...

Some pull the shafts for removal of the engine. I leave them in but I use wire and tie them up and back. Keeps them out of the way.

On the 26th I entered my car into the Original Mels Diner Annual Hot Rod show in Auburn. We had a great time and my car won the "Sexy Sport" award. The show was 95% Hot Rods. I had 2 favorite entries, a '35 Ford Pick-up that won Best of Show and a '67 Chevy II Nova with an LS 427 that was just well done. I was so impressed by the '35 Ford, I neglected to take any photos....(IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Finished the sway bar install on the BB. Only ruined 2 end link bushings before I figured it out.

Been Jones'n for some early doors. Found a guy about an hour away who was selling a pair along with a small parts stash for $200. Ended up with 2 pretty decent early(hence lighter) doors along with a bunch a parts....some trash...some not too bad.

Its funny you said that it was definitely right in the way, so yes, I did take it out and it helped a lot.
