After a nearly five year hiatus, I brought my 914 to Venice Beach Auto Body for rust repairs. Having the floor pans replaced and the non- functional dealer installed AC system deleted. The AC install caused rust damage to the right longitudinal. Looking forward to getting this project back on track!

Thanks again to Noel and Abe for their help dropping the engine!

That is the old Beach Boys Racing address 12 minutes from my house. It will be nice to get your car back.

Ruby was stranded at Advance Auto Parts 5 miles up the road (live in country - nothing less than 5 miles away) with no spark.

Found problem to be bad igniiton switch that dropped ignition voltage to zero while cranking. Jumped out ignition & drove her home.

She and I are both happy.

I’m happy with this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Looks the same as the other side.
I’m going to hold off on color for now. I only want to paint it one more time.

Just planning to wash it today and cover it with ceramic coating. Read here https://gleamworksdetailing.ca/what-does-ceramic-coating-do/ that although ceramic coating won't make your car invincible to scratches, it does enhance scratch and swirl resistance. The tough SiO2 nanoparticles form a surface that's harder to damage compared to bare paint.

yea you are running carbs still right? pretty easy to jumper that to get going - you'll have to get a new switch try to get a german one not a chinese one, i went thru this last year .
I now have 2 extras , i believe the Meyle one is german not china junk.

I carry the jumper wire in the tool box, we can jump it with FI too. Also i fused the circuit and i installed the ford solenoid thing so less current is being drawn thru that ignition switch circuit.

Actually my good friend Rick B asked, as I was checking voltages, "Maybe the voltage drops when we crank it?" I said, "Yes - we need to check that." Voila.

But from experience I should have remembered to check that days ago.......

Yes, Phil - always carry a jumper wire (or two) in your 914.....

Once started of course, voltage to ignition is normal and engine runs fine.

I drove it out to our local seafood shack last night to celebrate 52 years of ownership (no longer sure who owns who these days).

Terri wasn't there for the first few years of 914 madness, but she's the reason I still have the car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

She stuck one of her refrigerator magnets on the dash on our third date in fall of '79--its' been there ever since.

Beautiful night watching the sun sink into the Pagan River.

The 914 cooperated too, starting without too much fuss for the short trip home. Yay!

Put new rubber from 914rubber on trunk and it really dresses it up. And now seals it of course. Also replaced rubber snaps for top - one was broken.

Now to put grey carpet on rear firewall of frunk......

Also did static set of timing on ignition as yesterday's was a W.A.G. and it showed in the way the engine ran on way from home - used 009 dizzy but 123ignition back in now.

Hey,
i have fitted a new set of tires.

Attached Image Attached Image

Only Yokohamas are narrow enough. I had Bridgestone RE71, but they were too wide. These are the last 3 types: advan fleva the new one, s.drive and AVS sport. I changed them every 10 years - not because of the tread. The AVS sports are still on my parking tires for winter time.
