Hi there

Upgrade the front shocks to bilstein. That was a pita because the flex brake line seems to be very short. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) I had to unhook both sides of the felx line to get some extra play.

It's also hard to compress the shocks to get the metal protective "cup" over it if you do it alone. I would like to have three hands.

In addition to that I started to disassemble the dash to get the face plate off.

Got a fair amount done today.

Cut some offending metal off of a PO-fabbed bracket that was partially blocking one of the fuel line holes in the firewall. Broke three Dremel cutoff discs in the process (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Sprayed a second coat of rubberized under-coating to the passenger compartment side of the rear firewall (for sound deadening, since I'm not reinstalling the stock upholstered back-pad). Eventually, it will get covered with some perlon carpeting.

Sanded down a couple of paint runs, touched up some rock chips and hand-polished the rest of the car.

I took the 914 out of the enclosed trailer were it was stored since late August after painting and moved it inside the shop to start the assembly process, I'm waiting on the carbon fiber pieces from Getty Design and the engine case from Car Craft which is getting lined bored, clearance for the new crank, new Chevy journals, all components are being pre fit and compression set to 9.5 to 1 before engine gets blue printed, balanced and then final assembly. Today was a good day!

I too have the same ATS wheels(in silver). Its nice to see something other than Fuchs, Pedrinis, and Rivieras on a teener. If only I can find a set of center caps. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

ATS center caps are available ... but once the car is moving, nobody can read the letters anyway.

EDIT: Mark (Mikey914) is making aluminum center caps now. The 2.75" diameter caps will fit ATS wheels.

Last Monday I finished the front sway bar install and reinstalled the freshly cleaned out fuel tank and SS fuel lines.

Sunday I cut out the passenger side engine shelf and battery tray. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) It used to have AC so the shelf had been notched for the compressor. After a little TLC in the hell hole I fitted and welded in the new shelf and the battery tray support. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif)

It was a long day spent in the engine compartment but it's over now!

BTW, the $4.99 spot weld remover bit from Harbor Freight worked great! I would recommend it if you don't already have one and plan on removing body panel.

I worked on my front 5-lug conversion!

New struts, 86sc front suspension, rebuilt front brakes and I got my sway bar mounts drilled and set up for welding!

I will finish the assembly this weekend and hopefuly drive it!

Planning to start my sway bar installation next week

Yesterday, repaired a seat adjuster (new pull ring from 914Rubber.com), and installed the rails on a pair of seats that I purchased from Jim Hoyland:

I made my own backing plates to weld inside under the tank!

wore my fingers out with drivers, passengers intake. Drivers and passengers brake ducts..
time for final sanding, some spot work here and there and to build the rest of the mold for the intake.

Did a little interior work today.

Removed, scrubbed and painted door the panels with tan vinyl spray.

Assembled the 'new' center console (was in several pieces) installed the gauges and mocked it up in the car.

Reinstalled the door panels and temporarily installed the seats (just to see what a tan interior looks like in my car).

I did the the color change mainly to decrease the interior temperatures on those hot summer days, but I also wanted more contrast against the black exterior (interior has always been black).

Now, if I could only remember where I stashed the roll of tan carpet to cover the firewall (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I was just out looking around in the garage, finally found the roll of extra tan carpet I got when I bought the Appbiz carpet kit a few years ago (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'll try to get the firewall carpet fitted tomorrow. I'd like to finish off the top of the carpet with some aluminum channel (just under the rear window ledge).

I plan to use the rest of the carpet to recover the door panels and the targa headliner at some point in the future.

I like the contrast of the black back-pad and trim between the tan panels and seats. I'd keep it like it is.
