I played with some plasti-dip. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My ATEV wheels are now flat grey. No more chrome. I was surprised how easy it was to peel off the tire. In fact, the more over spray you have, the easier it is to peel. No masking at all.

plasti-dip is great...if there isn't enough overspray to peel, I found that goo-gone or some other alcohol based remover works great

Got the new tires on the driver, while I had it on the lift thought I'd check to see any obvious causes for the high speed wobble, was also going to check the passengers rear shock, that side was riding lower. Grabbed the passengers rear tire to check bearing play.....moved all over the place, guess I found the problem. Thought at first it was an oblong trailing arm mount hole, but when I got it apart what was left of the bushing fell out in pieces...that's an easier fix (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

I always wonder why people stop driving these cars......then I start working on them......oh...that's why. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

Finally got out of the hospital, got my car running and went for a nice drive with my Daughter with the top down, weather was nice, got a lot of attention as there are almost no 914's here in Japan...very good day...next weekend I am going to install my new CD player to replace the broken one. Cheers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Got my replacement caliper from pmb , I had brand new ones that I broke off the bleeder and was unsuccessful in extracting . Now I can get ready to blead. But next up is the installation of new front A-arms and bushings from Bruce Stone to go with my new front turbo tie rods and calipers rotors brake lines and M.C. all from PMB. This could complete the job and make her road worthy!

I got the heads torqued and purchased a set of 44 webers on eBay today for the 2.0 4 cyl. Going in the 914 next week maybe. Pulled the engine lid off and hung it above the TV also. Looks good so I guess I have to bite the bullet and fab up that 914-6 GT grill now!![attachmentidAttached Image=442366]

Lyle, I think you're about ready for your own HGTV decorating show.

I think I need to hang a 914 engine lid in my office.

Wheeled the car out in the sun and started grinding away sloppy welds. Mostly on the chassis reinforcements. Just cleaning up the edges and leaving the rosettes.

Then I located the holes for the oil lines through the driver's longitudinal.

Also, I removed the grommet in the front where the fuel lines go through, so I can enlarge the holes for Tangerine's fuel lines!

No P-car work at all this week (except for taking delivery of some resto parts). Still bustin' my a$$ getting the Westy ready to go camping in the middle of Cuddeback Dry Lake on Wednesday.

Spent a few hours constructing a fake RV hook-up pole to amuse and confuse my fellow campers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

It's powered from a 120V inverter in the Westy, has a night light and a small pond pump buried in the bottom of the bucket (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Spent about an hour adjusting the headlights, and eyebrows, they were way off from P/O after the paint job. Got them pretty good, but still some work to be done.

Then I played eeny, meeny, miny, moe with bikes and went for a 2.5 hour ride.

It was a good day (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Went for a ride. Spotted an R8 cabriolet ahead, pulled up next and tooted to wave. Old, really old, bald fart driving with no sense of humor apparently. Put the foot down on the "lowly 1.7" and blew by him.

I smiled..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Decided to take a break from studying on Friday to become a hooligan for a day.. so I installed these again.
I forgot how loud they were.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

the exhaust volume attracted the attention of an STI on a twisty road.. It's always fun to see them try to keep up on tight corners (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

Oh, and I reinstalled the stock banana muffler that evening.. I don't even know what I'd tell a LEO if he pulled me over for running these.
