I drove the little car for the last time............. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

She drove wonderfully, and I was delivering her to my other garage area where the truck will be picking her up to take her across the United States to her new home and her new owner who is very excited for her to get there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

So for now it will be waiting to move the 356 here to it's new home.

Thank You all for the encouragement and fun.

Met a long-time Porsche 911 owner ('73.5 T) who is looking to get a 914. Though he has owned the 911 for a couple decades and autocrossed and tracked it heavily over the years, he has been out of the loop for a few years due to health reasons.
Now that he is making a comeback, everyone is telling him "No, you can't autocross that car, it is too valuable!" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
His solution... sell it and buy a 914 to build up the way he wants (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)
I let him drive my 914 and he absolutely loved it - low to the ground, quick steering, mid-engine, like a go-kart. Yet another 911 owner realizing the qualities of a 914 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif)

Drilled hole for license light. 75s have one hole.

Used greenlee punch to make hole for oil line through engine shelf.

Organized seals and hardware and tiny bits

I painted the rims!

Took off the tape and paper to prevent over spray on the primered body and through on some front F/G Flares I had sitting in the garage for a year or two.

Wheels got some attitude, and also got it in the sun for once...

Drove the 'BB' to the shop. Didn't do nothing with it, although it needs a few minor issues taken care of.

Worked on the '67 bug. Replaced the fuel lines, put oil in the crank case, installed a [working] stereo (Blaupunkt AM/FM/Cassette deck), installed the rear deck lid, replaced the right rear turn signal bulb and took it for a short drive to test everything out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) ... now it just needs some For Sale signs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

I had to pick up a new mud flap for the Westy, just happened to be a short distance from Jim Hoyland's place, so stopped by Jim's to help out with his transaxle re-installation.

Eddy, Bruce and Jim were already under the car by the time I arrived.

Attached Image

Eddy had to leave, so I took his place under the car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Got it all in and buttoned up, except for the muffler and the starter motor wiring, which Jim will finish up.

Attached Image

Shoulda stuck around, Eddy ... Jim bought us lunch (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)

I rebuilt the carb, installed a new fuel pump and filters. And fired it up for the first time in a few years…. I will try to upload a clip later on tonight.

Took mine out for another shakedown today. Made it back to the garage so I deemed it a success. Few more things to hammer out then it will at least be good enough to get on the road!

I reinstalled a freshly resprayed front valance, ordered rubber for the Mahles, cleaned up a bit around the gas tank, and my buddy has one seat done.

Soon!
