Let's see, last night I started it, found more things I need to fix, and also found less things I needed to fix.
All the fuel lines got replaced in the engine compartment, new filters, etc. One less thing I have to deal with! On the other hand, the carbs on the car have chokes on them, which I should be able to trade for the choke delete plates off the other set I have. Good news though is that I have either 28 or maybe 32 vents, but they aren't labeled inside on the top. |

You have to order? I'd figure you had a line of credit and just drove over there whenever you needed something. Or maybe that what I think about all the 914ers in Cali... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |

Hello folks,
My car was charging just little over 12V so I swapped the voltage regulators today. It's now making 13.5V and good to go! I am happy to know that the alternator is still good. The last shiny metal Bosch was made in Spain and was in the car only for 3 years. This one in the plastic body is made by Hella from Germany. Let's see how long it will live. kkid (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Nice to see that she seems to have an appreciation for it. One of our member's daughter was always embarrassed whenever he would pick her up from her high school ... because his car was 'old' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)
It was really nice shiny '6' by the way. |

I replaced the modern CD Radio with a proper Blaupunkt Frankfurt. Hid the ipad adapter in the glove box!

- Replaced the 40+ year old rubber bushings on my a-arms with nice poly-bronze bushings.
In the process found out that my tub still has a few little bends in the wrong places as the new bushings started binding when bolted down. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) - Fixed the grinding noise in the back by shaving off a bit from the caliper mounting ear where the rotor was hitting it. (Thanks to McMark for finding that so quickly!) - Replaced the broken speedo cable with a brand new one. Still not working. I'm hoping it's the speedo, i'm gonna have to crack that open. 1 step forward, 3 steps back. About normal for a day working on the 914 ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) |

Drove it to work today!!
First time since the 2056 build last fall, and since installing Antique plates (which could make it risky to commute daily). Beautiful morning drive, temp in the 60's and not too much traffic for DC. Hoping to leave by 4:30 today to enjoy the drive home before traffic gets crazy. By the time I get home, I'll be over 700 miles on the rebuild toward the 1000 mile valve adjust, oil change, etc. |
