I removed the "winter tires/wheels" and put the American Racing alloy wheels with Dunlop "summer performance" tires back on. Lower, grippier, and fun! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
195/65 vs. 205/50.

The 4 VW rims w slightly used Kuhmo tires will soon be posted in the Classifieds for sale. Cheap. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Drove it to work this morning! On the way home, I'm dropping it at the shop for 1,000 mile checkup since the 2056 build. Oil change, valve adjust, plus new tires, and brake MC check/reset warning light.

What adhesive did you use. I am getting ready to redo mine with the 914 Rubber German material. The adhesive I used before did not hold that well.

I got a qt. from my local upholstery shop, unfortunately, there's not a label on the can. If you don't have any luck let me know and I'll ask him for the brand name.

Here's what I use and is designed for vinyl tops and headliners. Not cheap at $23 a can but six years later the sail vinyl and headliner on my old 72 is still holding. if you buy some make sure the can has stage 2 on it as there is another can the same color but not rated for heat and exterior.

Pulled the speedometer from my '72 and I'm going to let Palo Alto Speedometer replace the little plastic gear on the odometer. I looked at all the various posts from the DIY'ers and it does sound attractive to just pay $25 for the gear and maybe a few more for the bulbs. Everybody has written it up very well, it seems step by step easy enough. But I just don't have the time to do it myself. We will see how backed up they are on Monday. If it is too long a wait, I may just find the time. Mine is a daily driver, so the speedo is better than guessing the speed...."hmmm, 3000rpm in 5th, so I'm about 70-72mph. Stay under 3400!"

I got hood shocks from Camp914 and installed fronts on my '70 -6 conversion project.

I found that the shocks are pretty stout and the attachment at the spring anchor was bending in from the pressure. So....take apart....find some 5/8" scrap strap metal...overcome OCD impulse against using English measurements....drill holes for 10mm shaft on one end and 6mm one the other to line up with tangs on the spring anchor....grind and file....prime and paint....install with moderate effort and minimal foul language. Now the hood works and the spring anchors seem to hold. It will get a catch installed today too and hood emblem reinstalled....Holes drilled a little high by DAPO so what can I do...aaaaaannnddd....DONE! Engine goes in next.

Finally got around to installing the brake light strobe module (LSC-100A) for my high-mounted center brake light. Works. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Then drove it.

If interested, here's a link to the module:
