... Later this morning I was amused by who decided to be "friendly" with me: I think that would be considered a form of 'acceptance' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

Drove to work. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Third time this week as the DC summer has been kind and gentle this year. I got to work early and found my normal spot at the far end of the parking lot. Later this morning I was amused by who decided to be "friendly" with me: I'm not sure they know the real reason I park there: in case my starter doesn't want to work I can simply drift straight down the little hill its on for an easy bump start. Maybe they are there for the same reason I am (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Actually I see this as THEM trying to be cool and accepted.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |

I see all these posts about the potential rot behind the rocker covers and I've been afraid to take mine off.
Well, while holding my breath, I took them off this evening. Guess I'm OK....5 lbs of dirt, but everything looks solid on both sides (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) after having (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) , saw the bill and (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif) but really after 2 weeks at the shop and lots of stuff tidied up got to drive it home!
-brakes finally bled and rear venting clearance set properly; -they installed my new a-arms, tie rods and ball joints, also full alignment front and back -new shift linkage bushings including the ones in center tunnel and shifter -valves set and timing( mark was gone so i could not get this done - new mark at tdc) now for some fine tuning of the A/f and should be good to go!! |

Finally got my wipers working again. I tried the 924 switch mod (CIP1) and that was a catostrophe. Rebuilt my stock switch. Easier than I thought, but now I have a highbeam out and my flashers stopped working.
Life of a 914. Fix one thing, two more things go wrong. Biggest piece of shit I've ever owned. Can't wait for the day I get rid of it. If I knew then what I know now, I would have just bought a tub and started from that. Most if not ALL the work I've had to do is crap from my PO. Should have bought local so I could have known all the issues up front. Buying from afar is a for sure lies and deciet. Think I'll let my car rot in the garage for a few weeks and go do something productive with my life. Venting done. |

After 44 years my car now has fresh carpet!!!!! A special thanks to my beautiful helper and wife Kathy. What? you deleted your helper pic? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) When I saw the 1st pic, I thought "wow, that was nice of her to purchase the carpet" ... ... but then, she installed it too? WooHoo (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) I made a quick pit stop into the shop on Friday to grab up a pair of 5-lug rear rotors that will be going to New Joisy. I'll be at the shop again Saturday afternoon, but there's some infrastructure work to do there - so not much car work will get done, if any at all (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Stop on by if you're in the hood |

Started to add up all that I had spent! Then became afraid. Very afraid! Decided to drive instead.

She was a big help as I am just too big to get way under there. Note the steering wheel was pulled off to make it easier. |

Well if she is unhappy, just let her know that there are a lot of guys that would love it if they had someone to share their car interest with. Besides you know she is all in if she will work under the dash like that! |

Who would have thought? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Got off with a warning, since i'm such a nice guy ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Finished up the front sway bar install. It really is not that difficult, and the tutorial on PP makes no sense as far as getting the bar into the bushings. Pushing it thru after installing the outer flange? Please, no measure of lube (even combined with some sweet talkin') is gonna make this easy. Simply place the new bushings on the bar (they come split already) now in its position, and using some previously procured bolts of the same thread, but an inch longer, tighten the outer flange up against the wheel well. The bushing will work right in. Then remove the longer bolts and use the originals.
Tomorrow, gonna start the rear... |
