Bead blasted and powder coated my headlight mechanisms. Yes I realize the powder coat I ordered had a little glimmer to it so it will be a bit a bit of hidden "bling".

I pulled my tranny out to see if I could figure out why my rear locked up on me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) at 65-ish mph (great fun doing two 180's and a full 360 across the oncoming lane, only damage was about 3000 burned up Milage on those rear tires). Got the tranny out and this is what I saw... Here is a closer look... So I'm looking for another tranny case. And once I can get inside I'll know what else is needed. I'm glad we have Dr Evil around to help out! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) What part of CA are you in. I've got an extra case. PM me. I'm in the Bay Area. I also updated the saga with more pics. See this thread: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...p;#entry2105663 |

Put in new fuse panel yesterday.
Installed new battery, car won't start (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Starter works, smells like gas - usually car fires right up. Rechecked all grounds etc. Fuel pump primes when key is turned, guess I will have to trouble shoot this saturday I am giving up tonight. Btw. All electric circuits seem to check out o.k. lights etc. . (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif) |

Back at it tomorrow One day ill work out how to rotate photos on my phone sorry Hey Edwin, Work have me slated to work on the next couple of weekends, but I am trying my hardest to get to The Day of the Volkswagen. Will you and your teener be there ??? If so I'll keep an eye out for it. Cheers Dale Hi dale My boss is a big vw and Porsche fan so we'll be there Are you bringing yours? I spent today at sandown with the Porsche club. Had a few rides in a friends gt3 and I'm hooked on a six for mine now If i can get there, i will drive Violet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I want a 911 too, but will be looking to get a early 80's Sportomatic, or maybe even a 993. So far today, she's outside warming up, driving to PCA tech session on teeners at Translog in York PA, and club AutoX tomorrow. Great weekend ahead!
Then she's being put away for the winter projects. (Sigh) |

Well today I looked at the linkage for throttle cable under firewall to make sure there were no kinks in it and look for oil leaks no leaks and no kinks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Why the (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) then? I'd say, no leaks and no kinks is a good thing (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Since the Westy will be in the shop for a week or so, I need to stick a battery in the 'BB'. Today seems like a good day to do it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |

Replaced the clutch cable with the parts I got from Mikey and 914Rubber in the group buy. It's been on my "to-do" list for some time as the PO really had something strange going on with how the cable connected to the fork, and it was really only held in by friction. It hadn't disconnected and left me stranded, however. Until last night, that is. Yup, the cable came off the fork as I was in 2nd gear accelerating onto Route 7 in Leesburg in the dark and I was like "wait, where did the clutch pedal go???" Managed to pull onto a service road and had my wife bring me out the 11mm wrench so I could get the cable back on for the drive home.
Today I put the new cable in. Wow, that was a bit of a challenge as my clutch tube welds had given way a few months back and my repairs didn't necessarily lend themselves to threading a new cable in the tube. The new cable appears to be a bit long, so I'm going to put more spacers on the end so I have enough play for more tightening. Anyone else have that problem with the cable, or am I doing something wrong? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) I think I screwed the cable in as far as it would go in up front at the connector. Anyway, it's good to know I have an anchor that fits snugly in the fork and the cable won't be coming out anytime soon. Scratch this task off the "to-do" list (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |
