Not sure why but I installed rain-tray, PO had removed. It was raining out today after all...

Can anyone tell me if I have the rubber "damper/stopper" in the right place? Just behind passenger seat, on rear of engine cover? Doesn't seem to really help, that side of the engine cover still flaps/rattles like crazy (which I HATE).

Supposed to be at the other side (driver side) and I think it is for early year like 71 and 72 engine cover.

Use the adjustable round rubber stops to eliminate the rattle. Unscrew them until they put some pressure on the lid.

Copy that ndfrigi.

I will move it around and see how it works out. I had assumed it was some sort of vibration inhibitor and that side of my engine cover (away from latch) has a lot of slop.

I doubt I will keep the rain-tray on all the time, seems to get in the way of servicing the engine (which is WAAAAY harder than servicing a bus with dual carbs).

Michael - That steering wheel looks terrific.

Thanks Michael, BeatNavy and Lonewolfe for the compliments on the wheel. I got a good chance to test it out on my drive to Santa Cruz today. I went to Steamers Lane to check out the surf. When I parked on the cliff I was immediately passed by a teal or grey colored 914. I think it had a 916 style bumper. I came home on old Santa Cruz Highway to beat the weekend crowds on HWY 17. Stopped in Los Gatos for dinner and took the photo with the lights on the trees downtown.

Hey Michael -- thanks for the awesome pictures! My old stomping grounds! I grew up in Los Gatos and used to surf around there (poorly, I might add) many moons ago. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)

I picked up my new project car. A very original and unmolested '71. There will hopefully be a build thread once I get started on it.

While I was out another deal popped up that I could resist so I picked up a rough '72 roller. My wife wasn't amused that I went out for one and came back with two. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Sounds like your wife is a keeper! If I did that, I would be on the streets with all my teeners! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Interesting Porsche badge on the front bumper of the yellow teener!

Put new boots on Violet.
The old ones were getting a bit old and hard.
Handling improved about 300% I reckon (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Finished prep metal parts rear suspension console (new from restoration design) and original battery tray that was removed from the car, ready for welding for 71 1.7.

Did some prep today inside engine bay for installation or welding on the new suspension console and battery tray that was cleaned.

You'd probably rather see the pictures of the Honda Moto Compo that is in my garage. It belongs Brant and he has the RZ.
